THE THEORIES

Here is my theory going into the final two RJ episodes:

Jane has the 5 suspects in his house.  RJ planted a bomb under the couch.  The 3 TT members go to the wall at Jane's command.  The bomb kills Stiles and Haffner.  Jane has a hunch that the Sheriff is RJ during that reveal but was thrown off by the multiple tattoos.  After the explosion he devises a plan with the team saying he is dead along with Stiles, Haffner and McAllister (as seen in the promo).  But the promo also states that there are 3 suspects remaining, the TT clan.  The Sheriff is the only overlapping character.  Jane and Lisbon will make the public reveal that RJ is Bertram or Smith (while the real RJ, McAllister, is incorrectly presumed dead.)  This forces a manhunt t by all FBI/police resources to the fake suspect while Jane hunts the real Red John.....Sheriff Thomas McAllister.  The new episode 8 promo photos might be showing this hostility from the FBI at Lisbon's team after this reveal.  Maybe they realize that Jane is leading everyone on.  Let's face it, Jane WOULD NOT reveal the true RJ to the public so that he could be arrested.  He wants revenge, and he will get it.  This scenario is similar to drawing RJ out in Blinking Red Light and Panzer.

As one theory here stated, the narcissistic RJ will reach out to Patrick for his yearning for friendship and to say "Hey, NO! I'm RJ!"

This is all based upon what we've been given in the show and promos, plus the TV Guide leak.

The Sheriff is the ONLY suspect to have a full episode dedicated to him alone this season.  It was to further develop the on screen character of McAllister, as many including myself had a Who/what? moment when the list was revealed in season 5 finale.

Bertram could very well be RJ and was always my favorite, but the relationship angle brought about with the Sheriff just seems too good.

We'll see!  Super excited for these episodes!

Why are people so sure that Bret Stiles personally knows Red John?
He even said once that "Red John sounds like a perfectly unpleasant sort of fellow" and if he could help Patrick get closer to him, he would.
So I don't understand why some people are a 100% sure he knows him personally. It's not a fact.

Don't know if McAllister is Red John ... But anyone that can take a sword through the face like this ... and recover enough to run a sheriff's department is one tough hombre...

Looks like the thought on everyone's minds is, "Is RJ with Tiger, Tiger, or he isn't he?"  This is tricky but I have a few reasons why I feel RJ has to be a member.

1.)  He Is Mar:  The best answer I have for what Renfrew wrote on the wall in season one is He Is Marked.  Therefore, it stands to reason that RJ's mark might be the tattoo.

2.)  The Poem:  Red John quotes the William Blake poem to Jane waaaaayyy back in season 2.  I don't think he said that to Jane four seasons ago just to throw Patrick onto an organization he has nothing to do with.  He was teasing Jane with this statement.  It was like, "I dare you to figure out what this means."

3.)  Red John's Friends:  We know he's got a lot of them, many of which are in or around law enforcement.  O'laughflin, Sheriff Ted Hardy a.k.a. Dumar from season 1, and Bosco's secretary in season 2, who was incidentally poisoned by a sheriff.  He even tells Patrick in season 4, "Luckily I have a friend in the FBI".  I doubt there are two secret organizations within law enforcement.  Occam's Razor states "The simplest solution is always the best one".

4.)  The Bomb:  I feel like the bomb might explain the bugging of the CBI.  Red John has purposely thrown Jane onto this trail.  He allowed Kira Tinsley to see his tattoo so Jane would bring all the suspects together.  Once they were all together, RJ planned to use the bomb to kill Jane and the other suspects, just as Rigsby states in the promo for next week's episode.

If blowing up Jane and the suspects was his plan, then RJ is probably the Sheriff, because he's the only one who happily wants to meet with Jane.  It would also explain why McAllister was so calm when Jane was interrogating the 5 of them.  It was all going according to plan.  The bomb will probably kill a few suspects, and the CBI will be left wondering who survived the blast allowing RJ to go into hiding.

I never thought about this detail and still hope RJ to be Partridge or Kirkland, or anyone else that will surprise us, but...

Did anyone else notice that McAllister showing up to save PJ in that roof was like "McAllister was able to save PJ because HE WAS ONE STEP AHEAD"? Like RJ is always...
