Just watched the Red John episode and, although parts of the episode were good, overall I am disappointed. My guess was McAllister or Haffner but the way this ended, it just seemed off. Why was Red John still breathing when he was supposed to be dead? Why was Red John calling 911? Some of the acting by the support actors such as RJ's pal, the lady in the church the screaming family, etc. was just lacking.
I have started, so I must finish as well.
Heller! Heller! burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame this stupid episode?
In what distant deeps or skies
Sheriff slept with Lorelei?
On what people him admire?
What the clue is "He is mar"?
And what shoulder, & what art.
Could Thomas twist the sounding of his mouth?
And when his heart began to kill,
What Stiles had? & why he's killed?
What an ending? what a shame?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What? The pigeon? what dread grasp
Dare his deadly terrors clasp?
When Red John threw down his spears,
And watered heaven with his tears,
Did he plead his life to see?
Did he who made the Tyger Tyger be?
Heller.! Heller..! burn this script
In the depth of your dark crypt,
What immoral hand or eye
Dare frame that awful serie?
I've rewatched the episode a couple times and its growing on me. I'm kind of liking the fact that RJ weeped like a bitch especially because in hindsight, he is just a person.

I see all the Partridge fans are out in force after finding out they were wrong.
This was a perfect ending. Simply done, and beautiful. They chose an amazing actor to play RJ and he nailed it. Jane got his revenge in the best way: man on man, alone, using his own hands and looking him in the eye.
Most questions have been answered over the course of this season to my satisfaction. Some are left open, of course. Why does EVERYTHING have to be tied up in a neat bow? The reason why this storyline has been so good is the mystery, which leads me on to my next point...
I also love how they addressed that he is simply a man at the end of the day. A perverted, murderous egomaniac -- that had to be done, because he is. He isn't ACTUALLY a god, as much as he likes to think that. The line where Jane says he's disappointed it perfect.
Red John gone. CBI gone. I'm crying but looking forward to the next era.
PS
ALL THE AWARDS TO SIMON BAKER AND XANDER BERKELEY.
I'm inclined to think alternate ending. If it was real would we really see Red John still breathing on the ground after he was strangled as Patrick is walking away...
What a worthless ending. The final meeting between RJ and Jane totally lacked atomosphere. I mean, where is that evil Moriarty who outsmarts and charm everyone?
Are you seriously telling me this bald sheriff managed to make all those people follow him like some God. Lorelei, Kristina Frye and Rosalind Harker?
RJ was just afraid the whole episode, running like a scared child, begging for his life. Where is the genius? Where's the man that's supposed to resemble Jane and wanting to be friends with him?
He couldn't even predict that Patrick would have something up his sleeve (literally) and happily go in front of him. What a stupid man.
This whole season has been so mentally retarded and un-genius it's embarrasing. This for a show that's called "The Mentalist" and should all be about mindgames.
Fire all writers, including Bruno Heller but only after they go out in public and apologize!
