Love the show, but I have to admit i was a little disappointed with the list of seven suspects.
Here is what list I believe that woulfd have made the hunt for RJ way more exciting.
1. Max Winer
2. Walter Mashburn
3. Ellis Mars
4. Tommy Volker
5. Dr. Royston Daniel
6. Dean Harken
7. Tolman Bunting
The biggest throw off is the alleged voice of Red John. It is soft and higher pitched. I really cannot picture any of these suspects even being able to put this voice on. Partridge was the only person who came remotely close having a voice similar to RJ.
Is RJ speaking through some sort of device alters his voice? Is it possible we have yet to even hear RJ's voice and it is a disciple?
I WONDER IF ANYONE FROM THE SHOW EVER GLIMPSES HERE :) Thanks for making a great show.
REDJOHN REVEAL + EXPLANATION
I am not going to name Redjohn. If you read just the first paragraph, or even 75% of this, you may not believe me, but by the end of this post, I hope you’ll know who I think Redjohn is. A lot of you already know. Warning: Lots of sarcasm ahead. I’ve made it very hard/annoying to read so I doubt the theory will be very popular. I fully expect a lot of red because of the writing style.
First. 100 compelling reasons why it’s not Brett Partridge. Now, in your brain, I'm sure you have a legitimate excuse why it’s not him, rather than a whiny whinge "It's just bad writing."
This is why the theory just does not work: *Warning- I use the word “totally” too much*
1. Redjohn killed Brett Partridge. Bruno Heller said Brett Partridge was dead. How can one guy have 2 names? He can't possibly have 2 identities and decide to kill 1 identity to protect the other? Bruno would have surely said "Well, Brett Partridge is dead, but his Redjohn side isn’t." Why would Bruno “lie” to us just to protect millions of viewers from a huge spoiler? If he just exposed RJ, I'm sure most fans don't look at the internet? Jack Plotnick said he couldn't comment on his appearances in the rest of the season because the team worked so hard to provide viewers an enjoyable season, just to tease. How can Bruno, who created such a transparent, straight-shooting, honest character like Patrick Jane, not be able to tell the whole truth himself?
Ignore this paragraph if it doesn’t make sense. Most likely, it won’t.
Bosco, I quote Lisbon, was a "damn-fly agent." He surely told Patrick nothing of importance on the RJ case, while on his deathbed. RJ knew Rebecca failed to kill Bosco, but surely RJ forgot about Bosco's lead on the Redjohn case? Once PJ knew Partridge’s identity, Partridge couldn't possibly have pre-empted PJ knew who he was. It's not like they both knew Bosco's lead? Even still, surely once his real identity was known, Partridge could have carried on living as normal? It’s not like Patrick is going to hunt him down? They are best buddies. "Tiger, Tiger" wasn't a reminder/threat to PJ that, if PJ told CBI, RJ could seek help from a huge corrupt law-enforcement ring. That’s cheating. But since PJ didn’t check the body, OF COURSE, that means he’s not Redjohn. It’s not like Patrick trusts his instincts? It’s not like checking the body would ruin the surprise for 90% of the casual audience and get Patrick Jane killed in one go. It’s not like Lorelei’s video clearly stated he wants a 1 on 1 showdown. It’s not like McCallister saving Jane shows RJ has made his friends back off. (slightly)
Partridge isn't scared of flies in the desert scene. That would be lame. It's just a co-incidence acaraphobia is a fear of insects that bite. Patrick didn't notice this or later connect it to Bosco’s Intel. Partridge doesn’t look concerned at the end of the scene. Bruno Heller didn't say Redjohn likes Cold, because insects are more often not found there? The desert has no importance at all. There's no reason Jane wanted to wipe Partridge's blood off Lisbon's face, other than he likes Lisbon. The woman feeding pigeons isn't Partridge. Partridge doesn't keep pigeons in his home as their diet consists of insects? Jane doesn't go into the meeting of 3 accomplices, and leave saying "BUGGED" as his last word for any particular reason. It must be a warning to RJ about the phones surely, not a taunt for his phobia? Surely, RJ spared Lisbon so Patrick feels totally indebted. It’s not like Reede or Bertram look slightly worried? It’s not like Partridge in response taunts Jane by sitting on the next bench, heavily guarded (out of screen), while Lisbon is in the open. Jane totally doesn’t notice. He totally isn’t transfixed on the hand (red fingernails) feeding the pigeons. Jane doesn't mislead Lisbon on the bench near the woman feeding pigeons. He totally thought RJ forgot to remove his file, and this was worthy info, because the vocal transcriber he already has, has totally useless info. He totally doesn’t know what “Tiger, Tiger” is even though Kirkland could deduce it (maybe even from Jane’s board). He totally didn't know who Carmen Lee was. He totally didn't know Sophie said he has acaraphobia. Patrick totally always told the truth to Lisbon after she was kidnapped by RJ. Patrick totally doesn't know who Redjohn is, but he doesn't want to take the remaining suspects to Harker because he feels its cheating, duh.
Look, there have been no fake deaths, let alone 2 fake deaths.
2. Jane doesn't visit Bob Kirkland. Bob Kirkland always talks like he's got something in his mouth (he does though). Kirkland had no idea from months of research, Tiger, Tiger “protocol” is to shoot prisoners in the back as they “escape”. Kirkland is surely not prepared enough to know that he would be held for some time and asked Jane to visit him just for a joke. It’s not important that Kirkland insists “Just do it here.” Jane totally never asked why Kirkland murdered Jason Lennon, only to find out it was his twin who did that. The guy in the red sweater in “Strawberries and Cream: Part 2” totally wasn’t a stand-in for Michael Kirkland until Corrigan was cast. (OK, maybe he wasn’t…) When they first meet, Jane says “You look familiar, have I seen you before,” just for filler talk. Kirkland was lying when he said "I know what you're doing" to Smith and he had no idea his driver would be part of the Tiger Tiger organisation. Jane didn't help him orchestrate an escape. The driver was totally not a friend of Madeleine Hightower whose family was in the fore of the episode. Why would it be important to Jane, to make Redjohn think that someone who looks exactly like one of his disciples is dead? Jane’s not the kind of person to pull a trick like that.

1 fake death Redjohn : 1 fake death Patrick (Season 6)
Nah, not significant.
3. Bonus: Proof Redjohn is Ray Haffner.
Quote Brett Partridge: “He’s been laying low for years, working through friends and proxies.”
- When Halloween masked man saves PJ from the copycats, he shoots left-handed
- The way Ray Haffner walks, is the same as the Halloween masked man
- Halloween masked man paints Lisbon’s face taking care
- Haffner is in Lisbon’s dream
- Halloween masked man pats Jane on the shoulder, the same way Haffner pats Cho after their talk
- Ray Haffner looks like he was a football player, he won the “Heisman” trophy (Renfrew’s only clue)
- Surveillance expert- easily knows he was bugged + easily tracks down Jared Renfrew
OH WAIT A SECOND, HAFFNER HAS BOTH HANDS ON THE BLADE WHILE SOMEONE ELSE IN THE ROOM IS TALKING TO JANE. SOME GUY CALLED REDJOHN.

WATCH THE VIDEO ABOVE. ISN’T IT WEIRD HOW HAFFNER PAUSES FOR 10 SECONDS TO SAY SOMETHING, AND THEN SLICES THE COPYCAT’S THROATS? HAFFNER WAITS BEHIND PATRICK’S CHAIR FOR A DECENT PAUSE, THEN HE SAYS SOMETHING, AND ONLY THEN LIFTS IT? HE LEANS INTO PATRICK, PAUSES FOR LIKE 3 SECONDS BEFORE DELIVERING THE POEM. WELL IT’S A BIT LIKE … YOU KNOW… SOMEONE ELSE IS TALKING? EVEN WHEN HE SCARES PATRICK, THE VOICE COMES A LOT LATER TO THE HAND GRIPPING HIM. IT ARRIVES IN RESPONSE TO PATRICK’S AUDIBLE GASP.
BUT WHO ELSE IS IN THE ROOM WHEN HAFFNER IS FACEPAINTING IN SEASON 6? CAN IT BE BRETT PARTRIDGE? OH WAIT, BRUNO HELLER SAID HE’S DEAD. SO MUCH FOR THE OTHER 100’s OF CLUES THAT SAY ITS PARTRIDGE. IT’S NOT LIKE HELLER WOULD EXPLOIT A TECHNICALITY, JUST TO SAVE MILLIONS OF FANS FROM HAVING THE BIGGEST MYSTERY SPOILED FOR THEM.
4. It’s not like Partridge guessed the list because ALL 6 other guys are accomplices Patrick has met (Mike subbing in for Bob). It’s not like Great Red Dragon, the episode name, has any meaning. Screw episode titles. In fact, I think it’s our fault; we’re reading it a little too symbolically. There must literally be a huge, red dragon which Ray Haffner controls while wearing his costume. I can’t wait.
5. Brett Partridge was Redjohn. Brett Partridge had no further role as a Redjohn identity. Redjohn remains. Brett Partridge is dead. Redjohn killed Brett Partridge. We’ll see no more of Brett Partridge.
Patrick has got it in the bag. The plan is set (no idea what it is, but it will be awesome).
If it's true that Red John has a three dot tattoo on his arm, this could give us a hint who he really is:

Obviously those dot tattoos are used by prisoners very often.
To avoid and also encourage some conclusions, please, rewatch "The Red Barn" episode before watching "The Red Tattoo". Focus on what Haffner speaks, on Van Pelt and DiBuono, and the last scene as well.
