THE THEORIES

Just a little theory for those who think that Red John is Walter Mashburn.
If Red John is indeed affected by acrophobia then Walter Mashburn can not be Red John. Remember the episode 2x12 where the Lamborghini of Mashburn falling off a cliff. Then we can see Mashburn approaching the edge of the cliff to watch the rest of his car without apparent fear. He probably would'nt have been able to do that so easily if he was really affected by acrophobia.

Oh cmon guys Bruno Heller is a mastermind, how can you be fooled by a sentence such as Bertram's: when you catch red john i'll be there or when the psychoteraphist says that mr. ROTH is a good whistler and McAllister is shown after,... You must look at the smaller picture, I can guarantee Bruno has our eyes and minds compleatly messed up with those ''BIG CLUES'' but in the end, like said before, the birds which are shown in many different episodes ( all include RJ ) will be the main clue to RJ, or something like that..

So i must say that I think that no one of the seven is RJ, they are all his friends and they know about each other ( the meeting ). I also think that Bret Styles is RJ's father, and Bob Kirkland is RJ's brother. I must also say that Teresa Lisbon might not be murdored ( yet ), because she is the weak part of Jane, he would do anything for her and I think RJ will soon start to use her as a bait to mess with Jane. So I must say that I dont know who RJ is but I will say that we are missing something... Bruno Heller GREAT JOB :) <3

RJ is simply none of the suspects in the list of seven. This list has been engineered by PJ to put RJ into a false sense of security. If RJ was indeed one of the seven suspects he would be giving Jane even less to go on, not more.

I think Red john is actually a persona created by Bertram, Mcallister, and Smith. It is possible that more of the suspects on the list are also involved, and may have been somehow roped in by the others. I think they have created some kind of organized group of serial killers. Stiles may also be a member, offering his wealth to finance the operation.

I'm thinking that, as abstract as it sounds, the birds or pidgeons are a clue. Infact, I think they are the big "clue" at the end of episode 1, which Heller said wouldn't make sense in context. I say this after episode 2 because we got another shot of pidgeons/birds for no real reason that I could find...Lisbon and Jane are sitting on the bench, and Jane looks at the birds the lady is feeding. It's just strange...

in theory #5288, user 'Becky' posted a link to the canadian promo for episode 6.03.

it shows jane hanging from a ledge, and mcallister walking towards him. i'm guessing this is a ruse by jane to see if mcallister can handle the heights ("roth" went to see sophie miller because of acrophobia). i expect mcallister to be ruled out by the end of episode 3, though he will look damn creepy the whole time.

of course, that assumes that sophie's dictation on the recorder about the fear of heights is true. i'm gonna believe it is, because i think red john would need to demonstrate some 'vulnerability' as a measure of good faith with a psychiatrist, or anyone he was trying to manipulate.

you don't build true trust and connection to a broken or damaged person by coming off as an invincible father figure, like red john is perceived to be. people will flock to that, but they don't stay with that. you build trust and get closer to people by reciprocating a vulnerability. sort of like when a man or woman falls for a "bad girl" or "bad boy." there is that "i'll fix you, you'll fix me" belief. if you're hurt, you want to hear that other people know what it's like to hurt. i'm betting that has something to do with how red john is able to bend people over time.

here is the link previously posted by Becky, to that canadian promo. credit to her for finding the link in the first place :)

Not much of a theory as such but could the list of 7 be a red herring? Jane knew his office had been infiltrated and gave a cheeky smile after finding out. Not sure if this has been mentioned before or can be easily dispelled
