THE THEORIES

Since Patrick Jane already knew he was being watched ,why would he give his observers real information if he could just trick them.

I think the list of 7 is fake.

Jane knows who is Red John, because the happy memory was in fact a trap ,Jane gave to each of his suspects different information about childhood memory's, all well disguised, and RJ revealed himself by killing the girl. Jane tricked him because he knew Red John wouldn't resist such opportunity.

This is not a theory but more of an observation. Based on PJ recollection, we can see that he enters his home but there is not sign of broken entry. In fact in his memory, he only discovers his wife and child dead body once he enters the room.
Would this be a clue that his wife might have known RJ or that it would be someone she would trust(Law enforcement officer) to let that person in. Also it would be explain that RJ knows about the childhood memory if it were someone she knew but not so much a a law enforcement officer.  Was it ever explained how RJ entered PJ's home?
Let me know what you think.

It could really be anyone which is the infuriating/addictive thing.  of the 7 on the list Ray Haffner ticks the most boxes for me

-similar to Harkers description
-member of visualize and right age to draw the face on the barn
-connected with Stiles as above
-he  is introduced as making his career off surveilance cases. Think the wire tap in the girls room at the end of the first series. Red John constantly seems to be a step ahead. Surveillance skills would surely help here
-was a member of the FBI and CBI

There are other guys i would say are right up there. Ellis Mars is one. Minelli another and Sheriff McAllisters inclusion on the list puzzles and intrigues me. If i had to pick one person i would say its Mars. If the list is right, Haffner.

I don`t understand. Why is Sheriff McAllister a suspect? I don`t say he couldn`t be Red John, but I don`t know what made Jane think that McAllister could be RJ. He appears in an episode which has nothing to do with Red John and, yes, he has  weird behavior. His attitude with Van Pelt made us all believe that he could be the killer (who murdered that girl from the 2nd episode), but I think no one found any link between him and RJ.
I mean, if he is RJ, he most certainly does know that Van Pelt works with the CBI. The whole scene on that road when his harrases Van Pelt would make no sense, since he knows very well that she and Rigsby are part of Jane`s team. So which could be the link?
What made Jane put him on the list? This isn`t a random choice, that`s obvious, but I just can`t see the reason.

I think red john is James Roday  who plays  Shawn Spencer  in the show ( Psych 2006 )  check his voice in you tube , there is a scene when he talks about the mentalist in the  Psych show , the video name is exactly like that ( Psych Nicknames 2 0 ) without the brackets , and his voice is 100% red john's voice

Red John isn't a single man. He is an organization. The list of 7 are its accomplices. That's why Red John has matching characteristics of everyone on the list. Probably those 7 are the leaders of this organization. Each one acts alone. But plans together.

Xander Berkeley plays the sheriff thomas mc allister. But now he has a role in  Nikita on  the CW.

He can not play for two different television channels.
So he is  not  red john.
