THE THEORIES

If it's someone from the list it's Partridge gotta be  i suspected him after rewatching the pilot episode but dissmised it when he didn't appear again in the first season   when he popped up in the season 2 finale (a red john ep written by bruno heller) my radar went off and in season 5 he showed up in two episodes(on a red john season finale ep written by bruno heller) an all my suspicions were confirmed by just the fact that Partridge is on jane's list   and he's the only one the show hasn't hinted  is red john       everone else is either too obvious or not obvious at allI've got every season on dvd and have watched every episode at least 3 times each the more i think about it the more i'm convinced Red John is more than one person(a cult within Visulize?) and is heavily involved with Visulize (mentored by or working for Bret Stiles) 1-Stiles' knowledge of Red John    2-Red John's accomplices appear cult like  3-Visulize has members in the CBI  4-The smiley face on the barn at the Visulize farm
Red John has a connection to Jane's carni past  1-there's a reason Red John hasn't killed jane  2-maybe knows or is Jane's Dad or brother in law Danny 3- could be related to someone the Jane's ripped off 4- the knowledge of Jane's happy memory 5- Shaun Barllow seems to know a lot about red john and describes jane's dad as wicked

it's not one one of the guys on the list   every possible Red John reveal has been a fake out this is just another cock tease another ploy by jane so red john will let his guard down    It's gonna be dissapointing if it is just one of the seven people on the list     it's gonna b more than one person or someone not on the list #1-Janes dad #2-Mashburn #3-Minnelli #4-Christine Frye #5-That blind chick is not blind  lol

But still . . .revealing Red John has been Jane all along would make this the greatest show ever going back and rewatching every ep knowing jane is really red john would b crazy

I'll make some guesses about who's who by generating ideas which solely binds me but maybe some people might agree...

Red John: Complicated. How? He seems to be a master-mind of crime as well as the cover-ups by highly smart moves that nobody could catch him so far. He is also a great manipulator/mentor who controls many people by means of persuasion? hypnosis? threat? blackmail? whatever you call it, people die for him intentionally. We see this pattern in some terrorist organizations but even in those, people may kill themselves under drugs mostly. However, RJ disciples reflect more of a sane pattern which makes us think that they are not drugged but they are somehow influenced. So, I am asking myself: How come such a crime-artist / well-organized brain can get so aggressive and stupid enough to kill people who just insult him? You don't expect such a temper from a man like this. It seems like an instant and not well-thought behavior which is almost amateur act to me. I can't just combine these 2 qualities (mastermind / jumperboy) together in one man. This is why I think there are 2 characters making the concept Red John a whole. There is one orchestrator and one killer (besides the accomplices). Perhaps the mastermind and psycho killer are having argumentations on each other's acts to eliminate contradictions. However, this only happens when there are serious contradictions. Otherwise, there's a master plan and they both pursue a unique goal by their own ways. For instance; maybe the mastermind got mad at the psycho about why he killed Jane's daughter where it was totally sufficient to kill his wife and let the girl wake up in a blood bath. And the psycho retorted that the girl got awake during her mother's killing so it was inevitable to silence her too. This kind of stuff I mean.

STILES: He has a bound with RJ as they were sharing a common context before things get ugly between them. They are both dangerous and equals by many aspects. So, they still have an understanding. RJ never intrudes Stiles' area except for some little touches (using Visualize resources from time to time), and in return, Stiles doesn't reveal who RJ is yet feels confident enough to share some little info with his rivals (Jane for instance). He actually told Jane that he knows everything about RJ but there is a certain limit to what he can reveal. Seeing this, I think it can be safe to say that Stiles has a history and an ultimate understanding/a silent agreement with RJ. Both being equally dangerous can be seen from the fact that Stiles is still alive despite he gave Jane an advantage at some point by letting him know where Frye was. Was it an order given by RJ? I don't think so. Will they be coming to a point where they have to fight? Maybe. Maybe the Visualize coup was a warning by RJ to Stiles telling him that he has to behave (against his revelation of Frye's location). See? No direct action but cold war between the two. Hostility and mutual respect is also there. And Stiles wouldn't show this courtesy to a simple psycho killer I believe. There must be a higher path.

I don't know if I should nominate certain characters who's the mastermind and who's the psycho killer. To be honest, I am guessing that the killer is Partridge but I haven't figured out who the mastermind is. Having Brett as the killer will make sense to most people which will also come with a great disappointment for the show but the show will pull it together with the reality that it's not over yet and that there's a bigger picture. That's where the excitement will arise again. This is what I think will happen. Enjoy it fellas...

Reed Smith is Red John. He is fat and evil.

It's Sheriff Thomas McAllister!  Patrick and him did shake hands in the form of rock, paper, scissors.

If you are going to watch some very important episodes like Rebecca's poisoning and the plot to get rid of Hightower both have one common denominator - a county police. The guy who poisoned Rebecca was indeed McAllister. Of course, no one would suspect the sheriff because only a few knew who he was. Remember Todd? He was also a county police, and don't forget about the guy who kidnapped Jane in Season 1.

This one is a very strong evidence: In the Red Hair and Silver Tape episode, when Van Pelt was about to be harassed, Rigsby stepped in and pushed McAllister. Out of the blue, a police car with its siren, suddenly came speeding towards them(probably one of RJ's friends). Same police car came running in front of Patrick and Lisbon. The rock, paper, scissors is one way for RJ to get intimate with Patrick. Lastly, being a county sheriff is a great cover. I'll leave you guys with this Sherlock Holmes quote:

"Do you know, Watson," said he, "that it is one of the curses of a mind with a turn like mine that I must look at everything with reference to my own special subject. You look at these scattered houses, and you are impressed by their beauty. I look at them, and the only thought which comes to me is a feeling of their isolation and of the impunity with which crime may be committed there."

In my previous theory (http://www.whoisredjohn.com/See-a-theory-Red-John/3591) I analyzed some facts we were shown during all 5 seasons. Now I'd like to think on the possible trick which is waiting for us in season 6 made by Heller and co..
By saying trick I mean that probably we are not going to find out that RJ is just one of seven. I think the solution will have some complicated structure.
Here are some possible tricks we may be suggested.
1) RJ is just 1 of 7 (a very simple structure), but the trick is some rotation of roles. I mean we could find out that actually RJ is not as much evil as we used to think and PJ is not as much good. If this is true, we have two scenarios. The first is RJ seeking some revenge (for example Harker could be blinded by Janes' manipulations). The second line is RJ killing bad people only. Actually the majority of victims are not saints, some women could be revealed being bad, and the only one is PJ's daughter who was absolutely innocent (maybe we could think a chance of her being alive?). Another argument is RJ trying to stop his activity (by making PJ kill Carter). From this point everything was ok, as RJ stopped murdering until PJ manipulated RJ to kill Panzer and so reviving RJ.
2) RJ is just 1 of 7, but a pair of suspects might be excluded from the list in the beginning episodes of the coming season (some could die or something else). So we'll stop suspecting somebody, but later it could be revealed that the one is actually RJ. So we must wait for the first suspect to "die".
3) Still I can't fully understand the profile of RJ. He is said to be Moriarty, but some steps like direct murders, actions with blood and so on don't fit in Moriarty profile. So the trick may be RJ not being the highest killer at all. I mean there could be a person who is directing a lot of people and RJ is just one of them. So RJ is a very bad guy, but he is not "the final boss". By the way, this could be a possible setting for season 7 (after catching RJ in season 6).
4) I know what Heller said, but let's agree that the way he said the list is real is not the same to the way he said PJ isn't RJ. I mean we could be 100% sure that PJ is not RJ and we could be 95% sure RJ is on the list. So this may be the trick. The list could be real but not full, in which case Mashburn would be a very strong candidate (we shouldn't forget his close relationship with Lisbon). I'm still thinking about Roy Carmen being somehow involved (probably the only character who could know about PJ's happy memory). May be Carmen told Lisbon about the memory, and Lisbon told Mashburn.

There could be some other tricks beside the listed above, but I'd bet on the 3rd line (probably with McAllister).
Some words about the list. Let's imagine you were offered to guess the list of 7 suspects before it was revealed in the last episode. A lot of people would list Kirkland, Bertram, fans' favorite Partridge, certainly Stiles, Haffner was also very suspicious. Less people would list Smith (but some for sure would, I believe). Would anybody list McAllister? I think no, because the rest six were somehow suspected, and when creating a list the scenarists could point as 7th somebody more "RJable" (almost anybody from characters listed on this website in Suspects section). So what are the origins of the idea listing McAllister? I don't think they couldn't find anybody and just started to watch episodes from the beginning until finding McAllister shaking hands whit PJ.

Well my theory is a little bit different. While Patrick was in mental institution, he was hypnotized by one of the doctors-Red John. And he is under Red John's control all the time. They probably meet now and then, and Patrick tells everything he knows to Red John. After that, RJ erases PJ's memory about the meeting. That's why he is always one step ahead, and he knows 7 suspects and Patrick's happy memory.
