THE THEORIES

I think the shaking of hands is a way of saying that Pj and Rj are already known but not necessarily has happened in the show.
It is assumed that when you meet someone you shake hands and discard those we have not seen shaking hands its a big mistake

Red John is Jane's brother in law, Danny.

According to Patrick Danny is, from episode 302, a great con artist and a psychopath.
Was mad when he took his sister away from him. It was the only good think to happen to him.
He doesn't seem to be mad at Red John at all despite killing his sister.
Very competitive with Jane.
Fits the physical description. Taller than Jane. Athletic like we have seen in episode 302 when escaped the cop.

Ok guys! I'll tell who Red John is. Do you remember saying Bruno Heller saying 'We will be surprised when we find out who RJ is'? On this site everyone in the series was accused to be Red John. So we won't be surprised when Red John is revealed. That means it can only be one person: its BRUNO HELLER! Yeah, right! He will say that he was trolling us.

P.S.: And don't you dare to mark this post with 'unlikely'?! Just kidding. No, seriously you can mark whatever you want..

Could Red John be someone from the carnival Patrick knows?

In the last episode they find Lorelei's corpse amongst carnival items.  At least one item, a yellow and red pedestral appeared too in S03 E02 (Cackle-bladder Blood), where Patrick and Teresa visited Patrick's old carnival.

Also, tvguide.com writes: "This season has been about Jane digging into the notion that it's not that Red John could be anyone; it's that Red John is one of a very specific set of people that Jane is uniquely qualified to investigate," Tom Szentgyorgyi tells us.   (Link: http://www.tvguide.com/News/Mega-Buzz-New-Girl-Following-Spoilers-1062691.aspx)

Could this set of people be the carnival? What other group of people is Jane uniquely qualified to investigate?  And if so did we see Red John already in S03 E02?

I watched that episode and there is only one person who caught my attention, a man in an overall doing some manual work. (appearing at 09:26 and 13:26). He could be in the early 40s, is Caucasian and has short hair.  According to Rosalind Harker Red John has rough hands which indicates that he is someone who works with his hands.

Points against this theory:   Red John could have placed Lorelei amongst carnival items to taunt Patrick. And he doesn't seem to be someone who would give away such an important clue unless he didn't have time to move Lorelei.  Red John's rough hands could have been a result of his long-lasting construction work in the cellar in S01 E23 and it might have been a singular event.

What do you think?

Robert Kirkland. My guess would be him. it appears he is hiding something. He and patrick jane shook hands. Kirkland told him that he knew Patrick Jane when he shook hands. My Final guess would be him and perhaps maybe Bret Partridge could be Red John.

I think they should do a Mentalist/Criminal Minds crossover episode.

I am sure I am missing some people. And I am sure there are many we don't know yet.

Guys, WHAT THE HELL is this? 17 people I have counted, 7 died with a smile on their face. 6 died without thinking of betreyal. We have to think really big. This cannot be achieved by money or position. They are not threatened either.

We know RJ killed Lorelei's sister, and created weakness in her heart. This way, he owned Lorelei. But you can't kill relatives of all these people and own them, because they would figure it out as they know about each other.

It's not Visualize. Vizualize is a christian community, but RJ says there is no hell or heaven. The higher path is on this world only. These people choose this higher path, so it isn't Stiles or a Visualize member.

What can you offer to these people to win and own them? Even when dying, these people don't ever think of telling his name. Even Lorelei didn't tell it despite what she learned. Why?

I invite you to think of this instead of analyzing characters. We can get to RJ only by looking at the big picture. Instead of thinking who can do what, let's think what can you do to achieve this?

A minor obervation: When it was evidenced that RJ kills relatives to win people, Grace Van Pelt was taking computer courses, and she doesnt know this yet. Remember when she was talking about her sister who committed suicide? She told it to persuade a woman from doing sth I don't remember.
Later Rigsby said: You made it up right?
Van Pelt: Of course.

But! Van Pelt had done the same thing once before, I dont really remember content. But she seemed to be making a serious thing up, but it was actually real. I think her sister's commiting suicide was also real, and when Van Pelt learns this Lorelei's sister thing, I think we will see some interesting things.
