Red John is obviously not Patrick Jane or anyone of the obvious suspects seen in recent videos.

In fact the poem about fearful symmetry could mean that RJ has a twin. If he is a pair of twin brothers working together, they could make people into thinking that they are the same person and create alibis claiming that they were somewhere else during a crime.

Okay i'm really pissed at whoever wanted to switch The Mentalist to Sunday it is always be canceled by a Football game or something i don't care about i wanted to watch The Mentalist every week instead of every two or three ....... Who is with me? 

There is also another man very suspicious and he can be considered like
Waldo: in 3x24 when Timothy Carter answers the phone there is a man with a
red sweater sitting ahead of him. The man watches Patrick and when he
stands up to talk to Timothy, the man goes away. But look at the table:
there is a mug and the handle of the mug is on the left side (Roy
Tagliaferro in 4x13 holds the mug with his left hand).
And look at the floor: the man is sitting in the middle of the hall in a red circle (you can see it better at the end of the episode, there is an aerial shot).
The same man appears also in 4x09. We can see him twice at the CBI terrace/restaurant: the first time he is walking (min. 15:04);
the second time he is reading a newspaper while Patrick and Teresa are eating an ice cream (it is at the end of the episode).

that's what the Mentalist writers said about the scene in which Jane meets Carter in the mall: "To be honest, this is the most important scene since the pilot, and will be till the end of the series".

Now, remember what Patrick said in the pilot: "Why do magicians have beautiful girl assistants? Because they’re reliable distracters of attention. People will look at a
beautiful girl for a long time before they look where they should be
looking if they want to see how the trick really works" (min. 34:31).

Well, maybe Red John used the same trick:
Timothy is the girl assistant (ok, he isn't "beautiful" :D, but he is charismatic, isn't he?) and the man with the red sweater can be the magician, or Red John, if you prefer.

I haven't a clue who it is........

Love the show, but iam a bit behind here in the UK

First of all Kirkland is not RJ for the simple reason that when he shook hands with PJ, Lorelei was in PRISON and didnt know that(i believe though that kirkland is one of Rj's friends in the FBI).I believe Bret Stiles knows many things about RJ(maybe one of his best friends but he is not RJ) and he will be the one who will help PJ with his list in S5(either to help RJ or PJ)I really cant understand which side he is.Before the last episode i was more convinced in the Partridge theory but when PJ talks with the priest at the elevator gives us to understand that RJ must be at least 40 years old...The theory about van pelt is just ridiculous i believe...I also disagree with the theory that PJ is RJ

I think Red John is Jane's brother.
I dont know anyone mentioned about it but the tiger poem says "what immortal hand or eye could frame thy fearful symmetry"
So i think that symmetry is Jane's brother. Twin maybe

My second man is Brett Partridge.
His voice is the same as Red John.
Not only his voice. Whenever we have a fake Red John case he shows up to investigate.
And Jack Plotnick has a perfect villain face to be Red John.
If Jane is Red John that would be so simple. I dont think scenarists would do that.
Im watching 5x05 right now. So these are my guesses so far.

The Red John is Patrick Jane's father ;) It's clear, I really don't get, that nobody else see it .. :-)
