THE THEORIES

Just a little prophecy about the next season finale:

Jane will reduce his list to a very small group of people like 3 or 4.
Then, in the season finale, he is going to play a trick on these people in order to reveal the identity of the true Red John among them. (Somehow as he did in episode 3x23...) This would be a typical season finale for Bruno Heller.

However, he is going to fail because Red John is not on his list and hasn`t been there. All of the people on the list are not guilty. (Otherwise the rest of the work would be pretty easy. Too easy. Red John wouldn't have played with such a high risk)

Red John is either a woman (I do not think so) or he is somebody he shook hands with before he killed Janes family, so Jane didn't even put him on his list in the first place.

Red John is not one person, its a group of people organised as tight secret society. I would say 2-4 men/women, very intelligent and powerful, followed by network of powerful helpers/followers, very highly ranked society members, recruited because of their position, power or skills. Beneath them is group of soldiers, recruted and used when needed.

Within the top 2-4 there is a leader, Primus Inter Pares. Also there is a number of apprentices, trained and prepared to rise when their time comes.

One of the leaders, probably Primus, is someone that appears in Janes life from time to time, as he cannot withold attraction to Jane. Jane is obvious candidate for the apprentice, they want to turn him to the dark side. Killing his familly was part of the initiation process where they try to reboot him through a tragedy, separate him from anything he cares in this world so he can just step into darkness...

I think RJ is an cult, not a person. PJ is an especialist in liars, and he had belived in the guy that he have murdered, thinking that he was Red Jhon.
And in the last episode, the farmer speaks of demonical rituals at the barn where was found the two bodies (fact that sugest more than one murderer). And the barn is the first place where appears the RJ symbol. I think that is where the cult has started.

So I've been thinking about something that the illusion of Patrick Jane's daughter brought up in the episode where he gets drugged and hallucinates.

The Illusion says something in the likes of "do anybody know who you are?" while they're stomach pumping him. He nods and answers "yes".
We haven't had any more information about this particular moment or what it means.

Ray Haffner

His first episode..... "The Little RED Book"

His most recent episode...... "The RED Barn".... lots of clues revealed this episode.

RJ always seems to know PJ's plans after he shares his idea with Lisbon. Lisbon could be RJ, but more likely she shares the info with Haffner, who then is able to stay one step ahead.

He was/is a member of Visualize. He couldn't/wouldn't confirm or deny being at the farm back at the time frame of the two murders (two murders if you believe the vet's daughter's story).

Can't see many (which I find quite surprising) pointing to this:

Patrick Jane's dad - Alex.

1) They had a falling out approx. mid 80s (not long before the killings started) where PJ ran off with a fellow carnival worker (his now dead wife). We've barely seen Patrick's past relationship with his father since then, so there's no reason why there can't have been reasons why him running off with her might have caused even more issues (maybe it was the final nail in the coffin of the father/son working relationship).

What we do know for fact is that their relationship broke down because Alex cared little about the people they were hoaxing, and PJ did (more so) which ruined some of their work.

2) Alex realised PJ was the better psychic but as mentioned, they fell out about ethics more than anything. Cue years later when PJ is then suddenly making himself famous and a decent living doing exactly what his dad wanted him to do all along.

3) Alex would fit the right age group, will have no doubt shaken hands in the past, and would explain (whoever it was that said it) saying Red John and Patrick Jane are very similar. Almost every clue we have can be seen in Alex.

4) There's no real 'down side' to the story in terms of feeling like "oh man I liked them" or "what about that episode when happened?" - and it isn't 'obvious' like some of the other top suspects are which I doubt the writers would go for.

We also have a lot of scope in which to further develop the relationship without giving too much away about how it might be his dad.

Thoughts!?
