I don't really think that it is Craig O'Lauglin - it's over and it's clear that Red John is / was Sherif ThomasMcAllister. 

But another thing that just came to my mind today and which I would like to share with you is: 

Craig O'Laughlin was Blake Association. I think even without showing it, it can be taken as true. 


But what makes me curious: 

Van Pelt had sex with O'Laughlin. Why didn't she remember his tattoo when Patrick told them about the tattoo or even when she saw it when Rigsby and and her checked the policeman in 06x07?

I can't imagine that neither she never saw It on O'Laughlins body nor not remembering it later then.

Things we learned from the mentalist

1- Always bring a pigeon with yourself when you're meeting a mastermind serial killer, they're the ultimate weapon.
2 - When a person hurt and bleeding walks towards you, you scream like he is the devil instead of calling an ambulance.
3- Serial killers usually suck at rock, paper, scissors
.4 - Whenever an important witness, RJ contact oranyone with RJ-related information comes along, be certain to leave thenin an unlocked and unsupervised room so that RJ or one of his minionscan kill them.
5 - Don't ever watch anything Bruno Heller is involved with again!
6 - Always bring a female assassin to protect you AFTER you get shot. And also arm her only with a knife instead of a gun.
7 - When your boss tells you to pat someone down, don't just check for agun. Please make sure to notice any suspicious birds, too.
8 - Psychics can predict names on a list but cannot predict someone strangling them to death.
9 - Six years of clues does not matter. :(
10 - It's better to have a fear of heights, than to be afraid of birds. That will get you killed.
11 - When frisking someone, double check to make sure they aren't hiding a pigeon.

Hey guys, i just want to give a piece of advice to people who works late in the evening : DO NOT FORGET your pigeon before going out !! it seems to be the new weapon against serial killers.

 And speaking of Red John, so we left off with a list of seven suspects, Will any of the seven be showing up this season? Can you talk a little bit about what could be happening with that?
Certainly, all seven of those suspects will be part of this season and  the CBI,  Jane, and the CBI are doing their best to work out which one of them is Red John. I can tell you it won’t be a sort of Ten Little Indians type of of set up, it’s more  of a Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, which one of these guys is the guy.

Tinker Tailor soldier Spy, it is about finding a spy in ntelligenca agency from a list of 5 person, and at the end, the spy is one of the five persons. 

So, as much as i wanted that Red John would be someone out of the list, and specifically : Walter M/ashburn, because he is the only person who would fit and not include a deception ( see theory 7201 : http://www.whoisredjohn.com/See-a-theory-Red-John/7021#disqus_thread. )
Red John is one of the list, there will be some twist so that the true Red John will reveal his true identity and avoid a sloppy writing, but let us not forget, the season had been going for 6 years, and somehow i find that this season is independant and made it own way from the other ones, as someone said : Average writing for average people, producer are searching for money, and we know that too much mystery is always avoided by the audience.
Who ever thought that the Mentalist would be different from other commercial series were wrong, it is one pattern, and it is always about the money since everything is discussed between the producer and the writers. 
 
AND IF SOMEONE CLOSE TO THE MENTALIST ENTOURAGE IS READING THIS, PLEASE TELL THE WRITERS : DARE TO GIVE THE MENTALIST THE END IT DESERVE, THE MAGISTRAL ONE.  IF NOT, THE SHOW WOULD BE DEAD, AS DEAD AS CRAIG O LAUGHLIN !

The finale of season 3 was geared on who is RJ's accomplice.
Right at the beginning of the episode, the team meet up at an Irish pub. I immediately realised that O'Laughlin was the accomplice as his name is Irish. I'm surprised not a lot of people caught this.
I really hope it isn't as easy to guess RJ's identity in episode 8 as that will be such an anti-climax.
