Who is Red John?

Theories of Baalzamon (1)

Ok so we "know" it is not the chap I accused but still I had to choose someone o_O

So not much a theory but "food for thought"

Last season finale, RJs call to PJ:
"I'm going to start killing again, often! Until you catch me or I catch you."

So this does not make much sense to me.

After the revelation of the handshake and the list, RJ decides to start killing again.
WHY? After a period of laying low, so to speak, this pushes him to the forefront. The option of getting caught is made more possible with the escalation of kills. Clearly handing himself in is not allowed. RJ could just have kept up with the kills but not personal to PJ and thus off the radar. Yet this handshake/list revelation has meant that PJ must be the focus of the escalation.

So RJ has had PJ tied to a chair and does not kill him  - just rambles out a poem. WHY?

RJ has shown that he has resources, financial and associates. He was able to take out the CBI with the use of the secretary, then kill the secretary (either him or a proxy did the deed) as well as the witness burnt inside the cell. So 3 people killed within the CBI by the will of RJ. Which shows that in general location is not a hindrance when RJ wants to kill a person. PJ spends his time dozing on the sofa in the office or in his padlocked warehouse type apartment. Either should be no effort if PJ was to be killed.

Why is PJ not dead yet? He insulted RJ and his wife/kid was killed. The other guy insulted RJ and he was killed. RJ has had opportunity aplenty.

So: RJ could catch PJ anytime - which leaves PJ catching RJ (which I think is the point of the game).
