In the 6x07 promo 'The
Great Red Dragon' how do we know
that the three RJ suspects on the board are dead? What if in fact Gale Bertram
and Reede Smith are dead? If we look at where all the suspects are placed when
the bomb went off, you would assume that either both Ray Haffner and Bret Stiles would die or
Reed Smith, Gale Bertram and Sherriff McAllister would. But the three photos on
the board in the CBI does not make sense. How could Haffner, Stiles and McAllister
die when they were on opposite sides? (assuming that where we last saw them
standing or sitting was still true when the bomb went off)
If Bertram and Reede Smith happen to be alive,
then Bertram is RJ, not Reede. In the past few episodes Reede Smith has
been shown extensively and we saw and know he killed Kirkland, so it would seem
too obvious to make him Red John. He also does not possess the quality or
presence of what RJ would be.
Furthermore, if Haffner, Stiles and McAllister
are alive, then RJ is Haffner. Stiles is too old and the revenge in killing him
would seem empty since he is dying anyway (or maybe he
is bluffing, who knows). McAllister seems suspicious and shady but doesn't seem
or look like the kind of guy to pull off a RJ performance. His demeanour
so far could be deceiving, but he seems more like a criminal than a mastermind.
Plus I believe those with the Tyger Tyger tattoos are just part of Tyger Tyger
and not a part of RJ. I believe RJ placed that distraction in front of Jane on
purpose to shift attention away from himself as sort of a leger de main
(misdirection) or to bring down Tyger Tyger. I believe RJ does not have the
tattoo.
If Haffner is still alive after this episode I will share my theory.
