That guy who was incharge of that daycare was in the hospital who knew Red Jorn. Bob kirkland told him "Look at me closely, do you know who I am?" so clearly Bob kirkland has a PERSONAL connection with Red John. Maybe Bob Kirkland is Red John with plastic Surgery and the guy in the hospital bed didnt know red john had plastic surgery so when kirkland said look at me closely he wanted to make sure he's unrecognizable as Red John. Then he killed him to shut him up.
