The three remaining suspects are apparently Smith, Bertram and McCallister. This is why it is NOT one of these three.
Smith- Clearly doesn't match Rosalind and the psychiatrists description. He also appears sloppish, afraid and often unsure of himself. Red John would definitely NOT be him. When he was asked to show his arm to reveal his tattoo, he looked scared. He also tried pulling out his gun clumsily, which Red John would never do. Saying he is afraid of heights SO OPENLY is a dead giveaway he is NOT RJ.
Bertram- Bertram is always "reporting" to someone on the phone. He seems overly-curious about Red John as well.
McCalliser- explicitly tells Jane "I am not red John"- something RJ would NEVER EVER EVER DO. Also appears much older than the desc of RJ.
The producers would naturally want to shove us off a little... So that's why they're putting the focus on these 3. Back in episode 2, the same 3 met at Bertram's office to discuss matters. None of them are really Red John.
Based on the descriptions of RJ in the past, I would say it is most certainly Ray. He is very clever and resourceful, could have removed the tattoo if RJ was truly the one who killed Kira Tinsley OR one of those three killed Kira Tinsley because they wanted to bug CBI and knew Jane was on his way there. PS*** The murder of Tinsley was also sloppy and hurried, with no trademark SMILEY RJ normally leaves behind....
