Heller did a great job at making people believe Kirkland (and Partridge) was Red John (or a friend of his), I'll give him that.
My take (short version);
I'm talking about the man doing the killing. If it is the same person killing all those people then in my mind it's Ray Haffner. I just can't see the others on the list doing the killing, being the person who thrashed
Rosalind (blind woman) and at the same time being the person with good posture/excellent whistler who met Jane's shrink.
McAllister, Bertrum & Smith are merely parts (pawns) of the super secret best friends club. Inside info, keep an eye on Jane, etc
Styles is a codger who probably knows Red John (possibly funds RJ's shennanigans if needed) and the other suspects (some, maybe not all).
The soft voice of Red John is what always throws me. It must be technologically altered somehow because none of these guys sound like RJ whenever his voice is heard.
If it is one of those 7 (now down to 5) then it's Ray Haffner. I'm still expecting to find out that RJ is none of these guys at all. Feel free to disagree. A lot of fantastic arguments on this site.
