Not nit picking at all (because Xander Berkley would be a good RJ), but he's 59 years old in the real world.....compared to Plotnick, Corrigan etc who are 44/45?
I was 16 in 1988, and I'm 41 now. That's almost a 20 year split if they're talking 'young man at the barn' painting the face. If the sherrif is RJ (still not sure they would show pigeons in the church, his face going through the glass etc in the promo - KNOWING people would dissect every inch of that promo) - he couldn't have been the 'young man' at the barn in 1988.
Which means the young man wasn't RJ, but a witness etc?
Anyway, just thinking out loud. I would hope they resolve questions like this though - should Macallister be confirmed as RJ (still doubt it though)
Slightly different Red John preview than the ones already posted

What's this?
If it wasn't for damn football, we would've seen Red John by now :(
Ok i am gonna start small. Do you find it plausible that there is something up with gvp? Or do you find it plausible that the show is showing that there is something up with her. Thought the dramatic scenes we always see her face on camera and nobody else . After the fbi dude said his bit it was all her . What are they trying to tell us? Gosh darn foreshadowing driving me crazy
What about the gunshot in the house? We have not heard anything about that. Maybe McAllister got himself shot on purpose so he could leave his DNA behind, making everyone think he died.
I'm not sure if I'm seeing things but when Lisbon found Patrick Jane after the explosion, it looked like someone walked past behind Lisbon, I think that is RJ.
Also if Haffner and Stiles are dead, then what was the point of that occult ceremony? Does it not mean anything?
About this episode's title:
This episode was called 'The Great Red Dragon'. When you look that up, it is a novel by THOMAS Harris. It is a book that involves a character named Francis Dolarhyde who has an obsession with the painting (William Blake painting 'The Great Red Dragon and the Woman Clothed in the Sun') Dolarhyde also develops a relationship with a BLIND female coworker named Reba McClane.
Also this episode I found Grace was acting
a little weird and suspicious. The detective said that an informant or sources at
the CBI told him that they were on their way (to capture Reede Smith), but only
Van Pelt and Rigsby knew of this. Grace also found Reede Smith's wherabouts pretty
quickly, looking at old case files. I mean how did she know to look there? I
really think she is working with RJ. She seemed very strange to me the first episode
of season 1 where she got defensive when her and Jane were discussing the afterlife and her cousin being psychic. She is a big believer in psychic powers and RJ seems to imply that he is psychic. She also called Patrick Jane a sad
man. She said "you poor sad man, the Kingdom of God is a real place". She said it exactly how RJ would say it.
Plus she has red hair and
RJ has a thing for reds (e.g. Rosalind). Not only that but McAllister seemed to be fixated on her as well (second episode of season 1).
Finally the announcement of Gale Bertram as RJ by
Patrick Jane was a bit out of character. Don't you think he would not want to
alert anyone in case someone else killed Bertram before he got to him? I think he is using it as a way to get to the real RJ.
