I really want Brett Partridge to be Red John.

It's obvious that Bertram isn't Red John. Jane would never go on TV and announce it, it's clearly a trick to lure the real RJ out. If you watch Americ's reaction video to watching the Red John episode, it's very clear that there are big twists in the next episode, and that RJ's real identity will come as a surprise. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWYpReqi678)

If everyone is believing "McAllister/Haffner is alive and they are RJ" now, then why can't us Brett fans hold on to the last glimmer of hope that Brett Partridge is still alive and that he is in fact RJ. After all, we didn't see Brett's face.

I know that it appears to be McAllister/Bertram in the promo, but come on, they would never be that stupid to show Red John in the actual promo.

To be honest, I will be disappointed if RJ is Bertram (boring), McAllister (irrelevant) or Stiles (old). I did like Kirkland as RJ, but think bringing him back now is too random since he hasn't been mentioned in the past too episodes. I do like Haffner for RJ, however, but It would need to be revealed in a shocking way. But mostly, I love Brett because he is the only character that I get "creepy" vibes from.

Fanfiction; The events in "Red John." I hope you like it.

First of all. We return to Patrick in church. Thomas McAllister walks down the aisle and proclaims victory. Patrick pulls out a gun and shoots McAllister in his side. McAllister asks for mercy, and after some dialogue, Patrick surprisingly spares him. Patrick warns him to leave him alone.

Patrick goes to the graveyard where his wife and daughter are buried. McAllister shows up, and a chase ensues. It ends with McAllister crashing through the glass of someone's home. Patrick catches up and McAllister says "I'm not Red John, Patrick. But he would like to meet you." When the meeting is arranged, Patrick goes and tells Teresa. According to Bloodyfingers' theory, Teresa Lisbon is bugged. So Red John hears Patrick will kill him this time, and sends someone else.

But also according to Bloodyfingers' theory, Patrick has known that Red John is Brett Partridge since season 5 episode 8, since Lorelei Martins told Patrick he had met Red John. He deduced it from Rosalynd Harker's description. And Patrick has been pulling his greatest ever trick for a whole season. (Full details of this Huge trick using the List: Theory 11340)

Question: What has Patrick achieved in not catching Partridge, and making this list of people he suspected, to be involved with Red John?
________________________________________________

The middle of the episode: Cue Flashbacks: THE WHOLE EPISODE IS LIKE FLASHBACKS!

Robert Kirkland can be seen talking to Virgil Minelli. He is persuading Minelli to retire so Gale Bertram, a spy in Tyger Tyger, could be more useful as CBI Director. Minelli accepts as they both agree its necessary to catch Red John- California's notorious serial killer.

Bertram, McAllister and Smith are talking in an office. It turns out they are in Tyger Tyger as undercover agents. Each and every one of them. They are involved in the clean-up of California law enforcement.

The arrest of Michael Kirkland is shown on-screen, with further flashbacks showing him calling her "Agent Lisbawn" and killing Jason Lennon. It concludes with him finally being shot and framed as the murder of "Bob Kirkland."

Jane's House
Jane got a military-grade bomb from the company he helped in episode 2 of season 6. Teresa Lisbon's phone is left in his car, after he steals it from her, ready for the meeting of the suspects.

Inside the house, Jane takes his shotgun and he points it at Ray Haffner who is sporting a vertical 3 dot tattoo. Haffner yells "No wait!" "BOOM!" Patrick fires, aiming above him. The bullet misses as intended. There's a shot of Lisbon's phone, and Partridge overhearing what's happened. First Patrick says to Reede "You shot Michael, right?" When Reede confirms this, then Patrick tells the entire plan to the 3 undercover agents, while holding Stiles and Haffner under duress. While McAllister is to report back to Red John, after kidnapping Stiles and Haffner, Reede Smith and Gale Bertram will become fugitives.

McAllister is in a larger vehicle, and he sees Lisbon speeding past. He phones Patrick, he says "She's almost there. Good luck."

"BOOM!" There's a shot of Partridge overhearing the blast. He says "Wow I'm good." Partridge has no idea these 3 followers are actually working against him.

Patrick blows up his house. Patrick is sedated. Gale Bertram and Reede immerse themselves into their roles as fugitives. They realise it is truly necessary to portray themselves as vicious Tyger Tyger members so Red John does not suspect Patrick's powerplay.

While Bertram assumes his new identity and Reede is on the run, McAllister takes Stiles and Haffner to the same place Robert Kirkland is being kept. Then McAllister returns to Red John, claiming he survived a bomb blast, but Haffner and Stiles are dead. Partridge is too distracted by the loss of these precious men to wonder how the others survived.

While Bertram is playing "fugitive", he leaves a flash drive for the CBI to find. It contains the names of every California agent in the "Blake Association."

Patrick announces to the media that Gale Bertram is Red John, once Smith is safely surrendered. Partridge thinks he's won. He hears Patrick say to Lisbon, "I'm letting go." He tells McAllister to return to Patrick, as Patrick will believe he is Red John, because he suspected Bertram and Reede.

Answer: Patrick has completely exposed Red John's "Blake Association" and taken control of Red John's main Visualize link. Noone is going to avenge Red John.

*RETURN TO PRESENT ACTION*

Patrick knows Brett Partridge won't be able to resist coming to witness Patrick murdering another person he thinks is Red John. The meeting is in a park. Patrick takes his final tentative steps towards the person Partridge has laid out for Patrick. Patrick keeps his eyes peeled near the site, to see where Partridge's vantage point could be.

HE SEES PARTRIDGE ON A BENCH QUITE FAR AWAY WATCHING HIS MEETING! PATRICKS BOLTS AFTER HIM!

Partridge's face is like "OH SSHHH", "WTF IS GOING ON", and "IT HURTS TO RUN" all in one go. Patrick chases him like a monster, and jumps on Partridge, pinning him to the floor furiously. The Fury in Patrick's was at peak as Partridge recounts the story of how he knew Patrick from the carnival. As Partridge finishes his choked last words, there are tears falling from his cold dead face. The fury remained in Patrick's eyes. After a minute or so, Patrick unclasped his hands, he gets up and looks at the sky.The sun was shining. It was a beautiful day.

Hi again everybody,
Well, the last episode (6x07) was a huge disappointment  for me, mainly because it revealed to us 2 things:
- For one, the whole Bertram is RJ thing, is just a huge (last) red herring, and the press conference declaration of RJ identity to the media was made by Jane, just to throw off the police forces and the masses attention to a fake suspect. Do you honestly think that the careful, meticulous, calculative, and somewhat selfish Patrick Jane would share his "prize" with others? I think not. What I think happened, is that PJ knows who RJ is and he's pretending not to know his identity, and let him think that he's lost the game of guessing who he was, just to lure him out of his hiding, to finally confront him and ultimately kill him, and that's what the next  episode (6x08) is all about.
- For the second point, this episode revealed to us the identity of RJ, how you ask? Well it's easy to guess if you use a little logic, that's what the show is all about, a game of logic and deduction. I won't hide it anymore, the real man behind the all mighty RJ, is none other than... wait for it... "Sheriff Thomas MacAllister", yes, a lot of us are, and will be disappointed, like Bruno predicted it, because up until now, none of the suspects showed signs of being RJ, be it the physical description, or the behavior traits, apart from the phobias and the whistling that were thrown at us like confetti at a wedding, which by the way added to the confusion more that anything else... Well how come did I come to this conclusion? The simple fact that some survived the explosion and some were  burned to a crisp tell us something, I'll explain: look at the survivors: PJ, Bertram, Smith, what did they have in common? They all were at the over the other side of the room, away from the explosion point, which I'm guessing, was behind the couch Style and Haffner were sitting on, oh yes and McAllister, but remember, McAllister was at the other side as well with the others, and he was at the farthest distance too, so logically he was the least person to sustain  injury. How come is he declared dead. Well, they did not find his body, rather, just DNA, which we know is easily implanted in the scene, it could be blood (we've seen this before). So, he's NOT dead. It was all part of his plan, to fake his death, escape, and frame another suspect for being RJ (First it was Smith, then Bertram). Further the actions of Bertram tells us a lot of clues, he is either a disciple of RJ, or maybe he follows orders from above him in the Blake Association (this name sucks I know but Bruno chose it...)  but doesn't know that they come from RJ. So when he went to take the money, the recepionist called him "Thomas", this is no coincidence, it is in fact Thomas MacAllister's (Aka Red John) safe he went to, and under his instructions of course. The USB lighter that the team found in that place was not left by Bertram, but it was intentionally left by Red John, and it was not a list, it was most likely a message to Jane, because he knew he would be the only one to decode it (Van Pelt confirmed it). Which of course he did, and guess where it will lead him? Yes, to that church, where he'll meet his nemesis. Patrick knows this so he brought a gun (remember the gun he got from the safe a while back), but McAllister don't know or anticipate that PJ will have a gun of less likely he'll shoot him in a church, maybe that's why he chose that place for the first confrontation.
To the ones amongst you saying that McAllister can't be Red John or he's not suited for it due to his dull personality, well, maybe you don't know this, but in real life, serial killers hardly never reveal their real identity or personality to others in fear of being discovered. Hence, we can conclude that the "Sheriff" persona, was all an act, and that in the next episode we'll finally see the "real" personality of McAllister which is  Red John. And the ones that know the performance of Xander Berkeley as an actor know that he can really pull it off, you just have to see one of his other work (see "The booth at the end") to be completely convinced. And honestly, I prefer it to be McAllister than any other one on that list.

That's all folks, I'm glad I boarded this Mentalist/Red John train with you all, that was truly a fun ride, but sadly the game has come to an end.

See you next time.

does anyone else feel majorly sorry for Ray Haffner and Bret stiles because they were both innocent, Stiles was dying already, and Haffner had a little high school crush on lisbon and now they're both dead sigh

Ok, I still think RJ is either Hafner or McAllister (still alive), but in fairness to Kirkland fans, I acknowledge room in the story for it to be the evil twin cliche.

We are told or made to assume RJ is the head of BLAKE and no one seems to know who the head of BLAKE is. So Bob K going around asking "Do you recognize me" fits in with trying to figure things our regarding RJ/Head of Blake.

Again, I'm not on board with this but the alternative is that with Smith, Bertram, and Partridge now ruled out, the only people left are those dead in the house.

So it's looking like RJ cut off a body part to leave in the blast or something equally crazy...

Well I was 100% partridge for a looooooong time.

Until someone posted this on imdb. Way more convincing than the "busting through the glass" picture.

If this doesn't convince you it's Mccallister.....nothing will
