LATEST THEORIES

This seems to be two stories but really it is one. Jane is caught between eternity and won't cross over because he is mad at God.(Red John). Jane and his family were hit by a man named Wayne Rigsby who was drunk driving in his red corvette. Charlotte, Jane's daughter, drew a smiley face in the car window just before impact. Charlotte died on impact but Jane's wife Laurelei survived for awhile. The corvette went off the cliff, smashed and burned. There was a hightower nearby. That is why Jane is constantly pursueing Laurelei; she knows God and Jane wants to seek vengence on the one who supposedly destroyed his family, Red John. Visualize is the kingdom that Jane needs to cross over to. While Jane is in a como Sister Theresa Elizabeth is praying for his lost soul.(That is why she wears the cross) Grace Van Pelt is Laurelei's sister who is trying to get Jane to cross over. Cho is the doctor. When Jane finally comes face to face with Red John (God) aka Brett Stiles he will have to make a decision whether or not to cross over with Laurelei and Charlotte. Look for the red clues in some of the episodes. There is a red corvette on Rigsby's desk and in the same episode a bottle of scotch with a red tip. Mashburn's car was a yellow corvette with red seat belts. Jane tells him it's the wrong color. Heller did a great job. Enjoyed reading the posts.

I think... wait I know who Red John is.. I have contrete evidence... season 2 ep 28 ... emperor strikes back.. oh crap.. I mean the one where he drinks tea.. different program.. sorry... I think when jane drinks the tea and sees the knomes I believe it is the one on the right with the beard, this is because rosalind said he was clean shaven so he must of grown a beard. there is no monkeys in any of these episodes.... it just doesnt make sense... hopefully this makes sense tho... brett stiles quotes "to be or not to be that is the question"  or was that someone else... anyway I saw in season 4 episode 6 patrick jane... thats all.... and a few others,,, meaning it wasnt him. all this sums it up to be fair.. red john must be a dog.. in season 5 "the red barn" he plays with a dog.. a dog that stares at him when he leaves,,, a dog that thinks hes a tiger.. tiger tiger,,, come on people,... this is in black and white,...

i believe all these ideas of RJ being a group of people as false. As we know, Rosalind identify's red john as a short man with specific characteristics, also when he speaks to Jane at the end of season 2, he seems to fit all the characteristics, short, soft, high pitched voice (confirmed in red john's footsteps) at first i accused it would be Kirkland, or Brett partridge , as Kirkland requested updates on Jane when he first joined the CBI, at the end of red dawn. When he first shakes hands with Jane, he has a devious look about him, especially when he says Jane doesn't know him, but he knows Jane. But i realized it was very unlikely to be Partridge, or Kirkland.  reason being is that partridge seems to tall according to description, also in the episode where bosco's assistant is arrested, you can assume it was red john who poisoned her in the flesh judging by the look on her face, but wouldn't they realize if a forensic investigator was walking around in a police suit?  i don't think it was Kirkland because him and Jane hadn't shaken hands until after Lorelei told Jane about it, however, i still don't know why he wanted updates on Jane, and why he hasn't appeared anywhere else in any season. i believe Darcy is an accomplice for RJ because he tells Jane that he has someone in the FBI who told him, but i believe nobody knew except her and her team. Also, she shoots at the car, probably because she knew RJ wasn't in there, she was recorded by Red John and he said 'she's cute, this will be fun' yet RJ didn't do anything to her, and she didn't seem upset by it whatsoever. BUT, i do however have have a theory on red john, he doesn't think of what he does as a 'bad thing' or 'cruel', he see's it as art, or passion, i say this because he kills anyone who pretends to know him. slandered on the media by Jane, he kills his family. gets insulted by James Panser, gets killed. Called a Beast by TV talkshow host, kills her, the list goes on. i don't know who red john is, if i made an educated guess, it would be Brett Partridge, even though i think he's a bit to tall, i can't recall his exact size, his voice fits the bill, and he seems like a big fan of red johns work in the first episode ( even though it wasn't red john) thank you for reading, please respond! :)

I don't know who Red John is, but I am absolutely sure isn't Ellis Mars and Walter Mashburn, because Red John never brings himself at ridiculous position like they.

My opinion Red John is one of them: Brett Partridge, Oscar Ardiles, Ray Haffner.

Greetings. I belive that Red John is not one person but in fact the organization.
First of all, do not mistake me for a conspiracy theorist but I like to think of Red John as he is the leader of powerful and well connected group ( i.e. Illuminati etc.).
This is due the fact he has lot of minions doing his dirty work, protecting his belives and identity at cost of their lives. He is very intelligent, like prof.Moriarty in Sherlock Holmes. Individual that holds FBI agent as one of his minions is no ordinary man.
That is why I believe RJ could be organization of many, led by few or even one which never got his hands dirty.

I believe Red John to be Robert Kirkland for one subtle reason. It was hinted in the 100th episode that Kirkland was Red John because of his one line "Thank You", however if The Mentalist has taught us anything it is that Bruno Heller loves a good twist. So in the episode where you find out Red John worked at the visualize farm it concluded with Jane saying he remembers the name of every single person who's hand he's shook having missed one or two names. These one or two names is HUGE. Go back and watch the first time Kirkland meets Patrick Jane here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtlMX_Y6EvI. Jane never gets the name of the man who's hand he just shook. It is just assumed by the audience Jane remembers this man. I believe that this is one of the two or three people who Jane will skip out on when retracing his steps over all the people he has met because he doesn't know who this person is.

There are many more obvious reasons why it could be Kirkland such as the voice or build or he's the right age and would have right connections but with the Mentalist it never is obvious.

I just saw an episode in which 3 men were murdered at a farm in Ellison. On the farm wall the Red John token has been drawn and has been there since the mid 80's. Ray Haffner is a member of the Visualize cult, and the farm used to be owned by the Visualize cult. It is said that some young member of Visualize painted that token when he worked at that farm. Ray Haffner was 21 at that time. He offers Lisbon a new job in his new firm, trying to split up Jane and Lisbon. I really think he did it!!!!
