What irks me is that none of the clues from the first five season were addressed. It's like none of that mattered at all. All of the seemingly important clues, mistakes, etc have any impact or importance on anything. They took something millions of people were covering closely and developing theories on and think it's enough to simply reveal and not explain.

Jane explains his tricks, what he knew, and the criminals' mistakes in virtually every non-red john episode, but decides not to explain any of this on the biggest mystery of the entire show?! I'm not upset with the character selected, but if you develop a 'smart' show for a 'smart' audience, don't act shocked when the show gets criticized for leaving almost everything people have been wondering about from prior seasons just dangling out there. You could probably explain "he is mar", Visualize, the farm, Rosalind Harker, and several other lingering questions in 1-2 episodes then move on and satisfy everyone, why not do this?

It's like if "Law and Order" just ended with the judge saying guilty each week rather than going through the court portion, there needs to be an explanation on motive, connections, etc.

I just can't believe this! This closure for RJ Case is one of the biggest disappointments and scandals in TV history without doubt. Such a cheap, lazy, awful, ridiculous episode! Actually, I
must have been very surprised after the episode because of its
brilliance instead of having been surprised about its being a joke or
not. I'm so pissed off..

This episode is a complete insult to the fans!

-Even RJ's entering the scene is a total mess and so sudden! First of all, we could have heard his voice or seen his shadow before he fully appears. That would arouse excitement more but all of a sudden, we see Sheriff!

-A
big bad and master killer like RJ is begging Jane for his life! Bruno Heller ruined such a good character he has been built for six years in a few minutes. Besides, RJ feels sorry for Jane's family! Complete nonsense and bullshit! That kind of character never feels sorry and prefers dying instead of getting arrested. This is unbelievable! This is unacceptable. I can't believe that Bruno Heller wrote the episode. You
ruined this show Bruno Heller. I'm sorry but the truth hurts.

- Let's say we got over the fact that RJ turned out to be Sheriff. Xander Berkeley is a really good actor but you're giving him a few cheap dialogues Bruno! He also runs faster than Jane though being wounded. Jane is like a turtle! Bruno even can't use Xander Berkeley for this role, which had a real chance to become a cult but the show missed that opportunity.

- For the past six years, we've been waiting a
flashback about RJ's past but no! RJ character was sent off without
having been introduced to the viewers enough!.RJ character should have been explained and detailed completely before getting killed. Also, the clues throughout six seasons weren't explained. I wanted to hear them from RJ
himself and in that "big" confrontation! What a weak and childish confrontation! That must have been with high tension and in a cool way for both characters! What a pity! I still can't
believe! This must be a joke..They could have used great flashbacks for RJ's murders or preparations for murders and tricks just like "Saw" movie. Damn it, Bruno! Were you drunk while writing the episode?

- A man like Jane can't understand that the woman in the church is RJ's accomplice for a long time.

-RJ is entering a home, breaking glasses while running! What a ridiculous situation for these final moments of RJ!

- I wish 3rd season finale would've been the closure of
RJ Case...That was the best episode in the whole show! Clever, exciting, tricky, shocking and well-written.

- A real "Mentalist" fan can't have really liked this closure for RJ Case.

- Now , this show needs a better-written big bad than RJ and
it must not last for 4-5 seasons...

Let me say first that I do NOT necessarily think that Bret Stiles is Red John; I just think that he is one of the only characters, or perhaps THE only character, who is as intelligent as Patrick Jane, which I am sure that most of us assumed to be one of Red John's traits. The traits of a man and his nemesis, though not always equal, perfectly balance the others'. Sheriff McAllister can not even come close to being comparable to Jane, nor comparable to the picture of Red John that has been painted for us over these years.

(A brief side-note: Stiles may not be dead as presumed; after all, McAllister wasn't.)

I am upset and appalled and utterly disappointed by this most recent episode, as most of you are. Perhaps I am not saying anything that hasn't already been said, but I will give my two cents anyway. I am in denial. I refuse to accept that the Red John Saga could possibly end this way. S06E08 absolutely MUST be a hoax.

The end to this is something which should COMPLETELY BLOW OUR MINDS!! Like in Fight Club, when The Narrator realizes that he is Tyler Durden... something you did not anticipate, but which makes PERFECT sense, in retrospect.

Why, of ALL Mentalist episodes, was THIS particular one accidentally "leaked"?

There are so many unanswered questions (there was a GREAT list posted a few days ago, but I cannot find it) which can in NO WAY be tied to McAllister; he is an insignificant character who has had little to no effect on the show or on the character of Patrick Jane. Even when he was revealed last season as one of Jane's suspects, I was so confused. There are a lot of characters who make good Red John suspects; if I had made a list of character who I thought were NOT Red John, McAllister would have been on that list, assuming I would have even remembered who he was before the end of last season. He wasn't just a bad choice to be Red John... he was the WORST choice.

I am going to state now that I believe that S06E08 is a hoax, as well as the promo for S06E09.

Here are some viable suspects (not from Jane's list) and my take on them. They are just summaries, and I will give both pros and cons:

1) Patrick Jane: This made a lot of sense for a long time, but I have begun to think otherwise, mostly because of the conversation in the limo, and Lorelei's reaction to Red John's words. I had thought for a long time that Jane is Red John but does not know it, because of his psychosis, and that Jane's interactions with Red John were mental fabrications, visual and aural hallucinations. (For example, maybe his encounter with Timothy Carter was just a delusion. After all, a link between Carter and Red John was never established; the whole idea was just abandoned)

2) CBI Ron: He would be the perfect fit for Red John. Though he is always there, he is an undeveloped character; we know absolutely nothing about him, so we can NOT logically deduce that he is NOT Red John (sorry for the double negative). Why has he remained on the show for so long if he holds no significance? The only issue, however, is that simple fact; if they decide to develop his character this season, it will become obvious to the viewers, and the only way this should be done is for us to find out when Jane finds out.

3) Bertram:  Is he dead? Just because we saw him get shot doesn't mean that he is dead, nor that he actually got shot. Why did Cordero even shoot him? There was no purpose. It could have been a ruse, which went awry after Jane unexpectedly shot Cordero. Bertram is an excellent choice for Red John in many respects. However, he was always a follower trying to be a leader, hoping people don't see him for the empty-suited bureaucrat he is.

4) Someone in Lisbon's unit: Any of them is a possibility, though I think Grace is the most unlikely. Perhaps Rigsby's dimwittedness is just a front? (He HAD to know that he was giving up Jane's location to Abbott.) Cho is still very mysterious, and Lisbon is someone, the only one really, who could know Jane's movements at all times. And what better choice than the only person he loves and trusts? However, we see that Lisbon does really love him; Cho is too noble; Rigsby is too dopey to be faking it.

5) Stiles: Sorry, I have to pose this, even though he is on Jane's list. Furthermore, I think he is the ONLY one on the list that could possibly be Red John. Intelligence. Charisma. Power. Influence. Affluence. Stiles is far too smart and far too important to be killed in so random an act of violence. I love Visualize episodes, almost as much as Red John episodes. Red John is connected somehow to Visualize. But perhaps Stiles was meant to be so obviously possible that it simply cannot be him.

Oh well. We will see on Sunday. Will Jane really be strolling on the beach and dancing with children? Check out the promo on YouTube... it is so ridiculous. The only thing more stupid than S06E08 is that promo. I think that if you could compress the 42 minutes of stupidity of S06E08 into 30 seconds, you would get that promo.

It is pretty obvious that partridge is red john, no matter whether heller shows us or not. McAllister is just another fake RJ as was Timothy Carter - well, as a matter of fact, he is worse than Carter but who could blame RJ's choice as he probably only had the choice of bertram or mcallister for a scapegoat given the list of 7...

McAllister is not the head of the Blake Association. We know from Season 1 Episode 2 that he had a thing for Van Pelt faking to be a helpless woman and it might very well be the case that he joined Blake Association in need for a violation cover-up. Actually, he IS the sexually perverted man that Patrick called him, ironically, without being RJ, though.
You know, there is just no way that some genius of RJ's calibre would put himself into danger by meeting his arch enemy in a location that he didn't choose himself. Not to mention his naive curiosity as to what his arch enemy wants to show him... not to mention his begging for mercy.. (actually i suspect that he didn't really call 911 but RJ).. do you really think that the genius that planted timothy carter's number into o'lauglins phone in order to deceive jane could "fall for a pigeon"?? haha. What would be even more hilarious? RJ showing that woman who tried to bug the CBI his tattoo before killing her :D  !!

Still it could be that Heller really is serious about this. However, that doesn't change anything about the truth that McAllister is just another proxy of RJ. Now some of you might think that I'm crazy BUT: Heller just can't change the IMMANENT applied logic of the whole series up to episode 8! McAllister is NOT red john even if Heller wants him to be it. If Heller ends this story without sorting this out it just means that he failed when it mattered most and he made the whole story feel INCONSISTENT. a good writer wouldn't introduce inconsistency but discard any change which does not feel right. If Heller chooses McAllister to be RJ it's because he made a big mistake not because McAllister really is RJ!

Heller can sort this out, though. In some sense fooling us again with a fake RJ makes sense in many ways:
1) Partridge needed a scapegoat anyway because Jane suspected him.
2) It's interesting to watch Jane trying go get a new life as we haven't had that in this show so far. It makes the Jane character even more interesting
3) RJ has already wanted Jane to start a new life multiple times. He said it through his proxy Timothy Carter and offered him a new life in the season 4 finale.
4) Even I could write a good season finale for that - Jane finds the dead bodies of rigsby and van pelt and a big RJ smiley above them.

On the other, let's see what the inevitable future for the show looks like given that Heller is serious:
1) CBS will shutdown the series down before even showing the last episode because it loses about 40% of its viewers.

Heller, you like that prospect??? Think about it before it's too late!
