I'm okay with Sheriff McAllister being Red John. I think the writers deliberately portrayed him as a pathetic loser to avoid making him grandiose.  Can you think of anyone in the real world wanting to be just like Red John now?  Thanks!

In my mind at least one big clue was resolved.  People familar with Scottish syrnames know that "Mc" is an abbreviation of "Mac."  Perhaps in Season 1, Episode 11, the victim was trying to write He is Mac (as in MacAllister)  rather than He is Mar.

One thing that just doesn't set right with me in the reveal is the choice of weapons.  Given a choice, Red John always used a knife,  A handgun seems a little too clean and antiseptic for the final kill of his arch rival.  Then, as this is sinking in, the dark headed lady walks up and slashes at Patrick with a long bladed knife.  I think that this lady may turn into Patrick's next arch rival on the series.

All in all, we still must remember that all of it is fiction written to entertain us and shouldn't be taken too seriously.

Does anyone know of any interviews with BH when PJ killed Timothy Carter?  Did he say anything like "ya we thought it was the right time to reveal red john blah blah blah".  Or "Red John is dead and the show will go in a different direction next season".  etc

Im curious if BH lied to us back in Season 3 (I think it was season 3) which could lead us to legitimately believe he lied to us again.

Thoughts?

It just pains to see that PJ was after all not a few steps ahead of RJ.
I was expection, as probably many that the end will be PJ tricking RJ mindblowingly.
It just happened like... nothing special, move along folks it's over.
McAllister also seems like a dissapointment because we got to know him in the last season a bit more, whereas Partridge would be the perfect Red John, in terms of visual and behaviour-wise.
I still hope some serious plot twist accures, but probably won't.
Last season until now just seems rushed and not very well thought out with some serious plot holes to be answered.
Why did RJ kill that PI if he had connections all over the CBI to wire it?
How the fuck do those bombs work that apparently McAllister planted? (The first out knocking everyone out, and the second killing them)
Who was shot in Janes cabine before the explosion?
How could Partridge swap DNA for McAllisters, if he died in the first episode of this season?
What the fuck was that nun all about?
RJ is supposedly this charming, smart individual, but McAllister certainly doesn't fit that description.
I could go on for days.

Well to end this rant, perhaps our expectations were too high for this season and Bruno Heller simply didn't deliver.

RED JOHN WOULD HAVE....

McAllister is NOT Red John.

When Patrick Jane finally caught and subdued him:

Red John would have been happy that Jane finally caught him.
Red John would have wanted him to KNOW, to UNDERSTAND, that he was Red John.
Red John would have mocked him and taunted him.
Red John would have laughed maniacally.
Red John would have said all he could to hurt him as much as possible.
Red John would have expired with a smile on his face... A big, Red smile.

Okay -- so we've all got Mentalist blue balls...

Because it seems that even those willing to accept that McAllister was Red John are NOT satisfied...

That should tell us A LOT right there.  Would Heller really leave SCORES of fans with Red John interruptus?  I just don't buy it.  It's apart of the puzzle to think the devil doesn't exist anymore.

And though Heller seems to be running through all the colors of the rainbow for his show titles now, it's really only fitting that the show would actually end on RED.  I think it will.

ROLL TIDE

First of all, let me say that I am one of you who cannot accept that McAllister is Red John. (I felt better about it when we thought it was Timothy Carter; I could have lived with that.) Furthermore, I am also of the common mind that believes that all that has occurred after the bomb in Jane's house is some sort of comatose dream.

I posted a theory a couple of weeks ago, prior to "My Blue Heaven", where I presented a few reasons that Bret Stiles (among a few others) could be Red John, mostly because of his intellect and acuity, which makes him an ideal nemesis for Patrick Jane. He is, I feel, the only man who could possibly challenge Jane, and play this game with him for so long.

But here is something that bothers me: "Roll Tide"

I've always thought that Kristina Frye was a real psychic. She read the waiter when she and Jane were on their date. Her reading was extremely precise, including the "Roll Tide" rally cry.

Red John said "Roll Tide" to Patrick later in the episode during their meeting. He was really saying "I was there, I heard it, at the restaurant. Just wanted you to know."

So where was he? Was he the waiter? The diner visible in that scene?

Or is he Kristina Frye?

1) Yes. She is the only other character on the show who possesses the same level of intellect and acuity as Patrick. Aside from Stiles, she is the only other mathematical possibility. They are the only ones that can defeat him with words. There was an unmistakable magnetism between them. Unfortunately, she has only appeared in four episodes, and viewers who have started watching since that episode will not know about her.

2) No. But, if she is a true psychic, she is still possibly involved, depending on what McAllister said at the beginning of his death scene:
Did he say
"I am a psychic" ?
-or-
"I have psychic..." (and the word "powers" or "abilities" was cut off by Jane's hand on his throat?
-or-
"I have a psychic" ?

(I watched the scene over and over, trying to discern the words, but I had so much trouble.)

If the latter is what he said, he could have been referring to Kristina Frye.

Knowing that she is a psychic, her kidnapped her, brainwashed her, and has been using her as a weapon against Jane this entire time. She divined his list for Red John. I'll bet that Jane also knew all along that she was a real psychic, he just couldn't admit it to himself, much less anyone else, because of his past, and the harm that his former life caused to others.

Agree: You think that Kristina Frye IS a psychic, AND that McAllister was referring to her in his death scene OR that she is Red John.

Disagree: You think that she is not a psychic, and has not been invisibly involved at all since her departure from the show.

Please comment!!! I need to discuss this before I can move past it!!!
