I'd like to disagree with the guy that stated: "You are disappointed about the RJ reveal but you weren't disappointed from the impossible tricks that Jane came up to catch the killers"

This show is meant to be 100% real, with no signs of supernatural staff or unrealistic things to happen.I can't recall a single case where Jane's trick was impossible to do or think.Correct me if I'm wrong.

And then, from all the things we've watched over the 5 seasons and we were truly impressed by the intelligence and creativity of Patrick Jane, then we watch episode 6x08.Some might say it was a good episode.(Not me)
This episode was way off the show's standards.

Red John and Patrick Jane, have a lot in common.
They both love classical music and tea.
They both are weak/don't know things about physical fight.(remember that RJ uses his knife, stunt guns and other staff to bring down his victims)
They both have ultimate mental skills.
They both are more clever than the average mind.
They both have hypnotism skills.

And then Red John is portrayed as a common psycho, sexual perverted man, with no special intelligence, that he depended on others to think and act for him, a man that runs  a marathon with a bullet inside him, a man that makes fun with the "Red John" symbolism, (he has a rough voice and he fakes the RJ one, smiley face-those didn't mean a thing eventually.)

I believed in something deep behind RJ's behavior.I supposed that he painted the smiley risking to get caught for a reason.I believed that his voice was his natural, high pitched, calm, spooky voice.
When Rebecca stated that RJ has a plan of "love and enlightenment" I certainly didn't expect this.(A cop secret organization that turned out to be not that secret eventually.)

I expected a 20 minute or so conversation between the two basic characters of the show, flashbacks, a connection between them, answers to our questions.

In any case, you might wanna watch again the end of season 3.
85 epic minutes.Revelations, action etc etc.
And then watch 6x08.
-15 minutes to arrange the meeting between Bertram and Patrick Jane
-15 minutes FBI chasing PJ.
-2 minutes conversation between McAllister and Patrick Jane.(nothing substantial)
-15 minutes of Jane chasing McAllister.

Red John IS vulnerable. But I obviously didn't see that coming. For me, catching Red John must have been an amazing twist that Jane made so he was able to be two steps ahead of RJ and catch him in the end.

And even if I somehow get over the way RJ died, I will never get over the fact that they didn't explain a damn thing.

Hope my thoughts are common with yours, let me know what you think about all those thing I've written in the comment section.

What can I say? The final showdown was utter, indefensible Bull$%(#.

Many people like to use the analogy of Sherlock Holmes to Moriarty to illustrate the comparison between Red John and Patrick Jane. However, this is not exactly the way the serial killer was actually portrayed. From the very beginning of the series, Red John has been proven to be "The Mentalist" to the titular Mentalist; to be as above Jane as Jane is above the average criminal, reminiscing upon such instances where he performed feats like the gross brainwashing of followers, placing Rosalind Harker into a state of hypnosis, and forcing Kristina Frye into an irreparable catatonia, not to mention the countless times he has taken what appeared to be the truth about a situation, and turned it on Jane, the trickster of tricksters.

Why, then, was this final confrontation so vapid?

Instead of enacting the Red John that is so clearly beyond Jane, as Jane himself eventually admits, it is as if Heller took all of the scripts he had written for the past five seasons, and tossed them out of his office window for the grand finale, leaving a daffy and shallow shell of what should have been the villain to trump all villains. There were much better, more compelling performances by the likes of Erica Flynn, Tommy Volker, and, hell, even the episode with the SJK  -- episodes that that leave you wondering why he did not leave the brunt of the writing to the more creative members of his team.

These past few seasons of The Mentalist have been losing viewers by the millions for a very good reason, and if Heller refuses to get his act together, we may only see the show around for a few seasons more. Eventually, it will actually be beneficial to bring Red John back, despite the claims of his saga being over. As far as I am concerned, however, that atrocity depicted by Thomas Mcallister (though Xander Berkeley is an incredible actor) will never be the real Red John. Sure, there is some level of disappointment expected regardless of whom the killer actually turned out to be, but this butchering of the premise of the show was uncalled for.

Yes @hbjbjhjbjhb or whatever your name is, Brody is dead, he was hanged in public. And you know what, I don't care that people here found out this way! On this website I got so much abuse in the past, people calling me horrible names that I would never use! I never ever use bad, humiliating words for other people, here it happens all the time. That's bullying so it's not me who did something wrong.

And don't bother to comment, I won't read them, I didn't read them before either. If you guys talked to others with respect, people here would respect you more! I don't give a damn that I told you about Brody! Stoopkid & Co deserve it for ruining this website!

Good bye!

I have a question about Smith. I want to know if I missed something.

After meeting in Jane's house, Smith runs away and we see Bertram trying to kill Smith using Oscar.

Who wants to kill Smith?

A) RJ orders Bertram to take care of Smith. In this case, it makes no sense as RJ could easily put Smith next to Haffner and Stiles and kill him.

B) Bertram wants to kill Smith. But why? Bertram has no reason to kill Smith. It is not that Smith is gonna talk or anything. They even work together (McAllister-Bertram-Smith meeting in Bertram's office)

Can someone please explain me why there was a target on Smith?

I'M SO FUCKING PISSED. I EXPECTED A SHOWDOWN AND NOT THIS SHIT. I'VE BEEN WATCHING IT SINCE THE START AND THE RED JOHN STORYLINE WAS AWESOME AND NOW HE JUST GETS KILLED LIKE THIS? THIS BETTER BE A BAD JOKE. A VERY VERY BAD JOKE.
AND RED JOHN BEGGING FOR HIS LIFE? UMM EXCUSE ME BUT AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO THINKS HE WOULD NEVER ACTUALLY DO THIS??
BRUNO HELLER BETTER HAS A GOOD SHOWDOWN COMING REVEALING THAT MCALLISTER WASN'T ACTUALLY RED JOHN.

Sorry for acting out like this but I'm just really disappointed. I was so excited for the new season and this should be all? I really hope this isn't the end of RJ... and I think it was wayyy too obvious that this woman was from the FBI. I mean c'mon..

whatever.. Sorry again for ranting but I needed to get this off my chest. I'm just wondering if anyone agrees with me?

((and I still think that Walter Mashbourne is RJ, this would actually be super awesome since somehow everyone likes him and stuff but whatevs))

The Mentalist is the only show that can make literally every character seem like the bad guy.
I am never trolling when accusing certain characters. The truth is, heller made everyone look guilty .
I mean i can make a compelling argument that patrick
Is red john all the way to cbi ron being red john.

Lets lighten up on this site.
More people should post.
Lets stop the "debunking" because this isn't a 9-11 conspiracy its a great suspenseful tv show .
Im simply trying to keep this site alive because lets face it , we all love talking mentalist.
I cant wait to see jane start dating and make lisbon jeleous as well as the other way around .
