Episode analysis : Season 1 Finale.

Red john picks a family with old money and kills there troubled daughter and keeps the good daughter alive for a prize for sheriff hardy dumar tanner .
-One thing i realized was that during that time we did not know how smart red john was .
So we assumed like jane that the clues in this episode were worth somethings.
-Red john WANTED jane to check into the plane that drew the smiley face. WANTED them to find the po box with a letter from roasalind. Red john wanted jane to see the name roy taglioferra and WANTED jane to meet Rosalind Harker who most likely lied about everything.
- We assumed jane was learning things about red john when really red john was just planting misdirection.
-Red john got his girl and wanted Dumar Tanner to get caught just like his dad.
-There was no plan to kill Jane in that house Red john knew he/she could get away easily snd knew Dumar would get caught. Why else was Red john in a locked room? He coulda just came out and take jane instead of doing it 5 minutes latet like Dumar thought was gonna happen.
-Red john wants jane to think he is roy tagliaferra but he is not !
Either Rosalind was deliberately misleading jane or never dated red john herself . Red john drew his face on her wall for jane to see. He wants jane to believe he was roy.
Why? Maybe red john has beef with roy and wants jane to look into him.
Red john DID NOT RAPE OR KILL LORELIE's SISTER!
Red john does not rape and she carved the name roy .

Lots of misdirection in that episode and i cant wait till the show comes back.
The twin sisters were chosen for a reason. This reminds me of brett styles and the visualize scene with the two girls.
Red john seems more like a visualize vigilante than a currupt cop that helps other cops.

The title of the new episode is "Black Helicopters," and it will pick up where episode 12 left off. Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) will be in grave danger and we are all going to find out what The Blake Association is planning to do against Jane, Lisbon (Robin Tunney) and their associates. Mentalist creator Bruno Heller hinted that the upcoming episode is going focus on the "Blake villains."

Something interesting that I thought of that *maybe* hasn't been mentioned yet or maybe it's been "overlooked" :

Remember when Madelaine Hightower rescued Patrick Jane from Bob Kirklan from his brother's barn and told Patrick to only contact her after he's killed Red John to let her know that he's dead so she can come out of hiding?

Why hasn't he contacted her yet? Been well over two years...

Something to think about... ? Or just another "clue" that will never be answered amongst the other ones?

Before I start, I want to remind certain viewers that this is a show. Real world logic does not (read: DOES NOT) apply.

Trying to psychoanalyze Red John or any of the other suspects and claiming "this is how it is, therefore Red John is this person or he is alive or he is dead" -does not- work, and you are guaranteed to fail if you do this, as many of you will realize if you dig deeply into the older theories. We can only use what the show has granted us, and to a very limited scope. You cannot extrapolate two steps ahead from gathered information like you can in real life, which is why the mysteries in these kinds of crime shows are always so difficult to crack.

Worst of all, Heller can change his mind at any given time about -any- part of the series. He has demonstrated this clearly enough in his interviews about Red John. It is a contrived work, so leave overly extravagant theories to yourselves.

Also, people have been throwing around the word 'misdirection' without realizing what it means. Misdirection is usually followed by a enthralling presentation that leaves you wondering how said performance was done; a distraction that obfuscates the true method behind a great performance, or trick, or deception. Honestly, I can't say Heller has taken any regard to this. The things he has done thus far isn't 'misdirection', it's 'pulling things out of one's ass'.

That said, perhaps a little leeway is in order. The best that can be done at this point is to attempt to determine whether Red John is alive, or is truly, irrefutably dead. An upcoming episode, 'Grey Water' is purported to have the first references to Red John since his 'death'. If he really is dead, let's just hope heaven smiles on us and he reads this, because there is much he is going to need to explain in that episode. I personally am giving him a chance, at least until the end of this season, to repair the travesty he's created, and this two month break isn't really helping him either. I hope he takes this time to reassess his series.
