This is not a theory but a response to "Stoopkid". After reviewing a lot of theories and comments I can see where you commented about a character at a book signing during mid-season.

The poster "formercop" never said anything about a "book signing". He said a "convention" in Las Vegas.

He is actually correct. Actor Xander Berkeley was at a film convention in Las Vegas, Nevada, last month. It was not a book signing as you called it nor did formercop call it a book signing, either. I was at the event formercop was referring to.

This is how things get twisted up!

Back to what I was saying.

Xander Berkeley was in Vegas, signing photos and talking about his roles as George Mason and Percy Rose.

After the convention, he was at a table signing autographs. He was not charging money for them but donations were recommended and would be given to a charity.

If you selected the photo of him wearing the sheriff uniform from The Mentalist, he would sign it "Xander Berkeley, AKA-Red John"

He was very nice and signed for every last person.

When asked about Red John, he said the show indeed made him the infamous serial killer. He also commented to about 100 people that there would be no more "Red John's".

He then joked that some people wanted Sue Ellen to shoot JR but it did not pan out that way.

Nonehtheless, even though formercop is quite abrasive, you, Stoopkid are very good at twisting peoples words. And not just his either.

I admit, and I will try to avoid rudeness, but you are somewhat infatuated and obsessed. It is a TV show and at the end of the day they all go home rich and famous and you do not.

Enjoy what is left of the series because it will be coming to a close real fast. And as much as I hate to admit it, Red John does not appear to be in the picture (literally).

Ok back to business. No rest for the wicked.
I am not trying to guess who Red John is and win a cookie or anything.
But i do have some ideas to throw out there because
A LOT of us know and feel that a big surprise
is on its way.

1: Marcus Pike- Lisbons new boy toy with darkness in his eyes.
He will obviously butt heads with Jane but there may be more to him.
Jane joined the FBI which was a past enemy of Cbi to get a closer look at them.
Rememebr the fishbowl line?
The fbi was always shady especially when they stole Lorelie. Shit Lorelie may of been FBI.
He is Mar cus pike. Maybe Rj found Renfrow so fast because he knew the hooker...
Maybe she was leaving a clue that we all wished would be explained. Maybe.
Also an amigo informed me that the actor is gay in real life.
Could be a great fit for a serial killer who has a crush on Jane.

2: Visualize- Creepy Cooper, Zombie Haffner or Styles- You never know with these weirdos.
Red Johns followers sound like Visualize memebers.

3. Kristins Freye- A Red John apologist. The only Red John supporter in the show who is not a follower.
"Imagine the life we could lead". Always wants Patrick to admit she has powers. Red john is always trying to recruit Jane. Which is another reason why Macalister was a pawn. Mac never said anything about Jane joining him
and RJ kept Jane alive all these years because he/she wanted him to join. Rj is in love with Jane. Roll tide.

4. Cbi Ron- Wheres Waldo? Why did the writers boost Ron's appearances
in episodes 1-8? Why was he at the hospital when his partner and the rest of the squad was at Cbi?
Why didn't he stop a man with a gun chasing Jane and GVP?
Did Ron answer Lisbons phone when Jane called?
Ronbon has a office crush on Lisbon maybe ? Haha Ronbon

Suspicious:
Agent Fischer- " i was hired to spy on you"-Fischer to Jane
"Me and my team were just about to search this whole island for you"-Abbot to Jane
Her demeanor says everything else as well as her magic wand.

I know Macalister was not Red John and rolled the dice with Rigsby and Van pelt.
I also posted a lot about Kristina Freye and Cbi Ron.
At least i am trying and no i am not the leader of this website !

1) I never really thought the ring wearing person sipping tea with Rosalind Harker was the same person hacking up bodies with a linoleum cutter, but I suppose it's possible.  

2) I also never thought of Sheriff McAllister as the tea drinking type either.  

3) I don't remember seeing ANYTHING that would have provided a counterpoint to McAllister's hillbilly personality:

like say a copy of Moby Dick in his cop car LOL

or perhaps some classical music on the radio while he was shooting bucks out his cop car window LOL  

or maybe McAllister in a nice 3 piece suit at the church for his face off with Jane at the end!  LOL  [You'd think he would have dressed for the occasion].

4) It would be interesting to see a list of RJ attributes compared against the traits of McAllister -- though I already know that you couldn't cross reference anything, except for cowboy boots and ability to make a high pitched voice.  LOL

5) Gosh, we never even got to see where McAllister was living.  Being a town's sheriff [and not JUST a serial killer and leader of a huge mafia organization controlling the lives of THOUSANDS], he'd have a home address somewhere, right?  LOL  Unless he lived in his cop car at the station.  

6) It's convenient that McAllister never seemed to have a home because then Jane didn't ever have to go there, and thus the writers didn't have to worry about pulling the reveal out of their asses.  Just make everyone drive to Jane's 10 hours away house like it's around the corner!

7) Why didn't Jane guess McAllister years ago?  Somehow he saw through EVERYONE else for a decade, AND even knew Fisher and Abbot's favorite childhood toys, but he couldn't guess McAllister until the bomb gag?
