This is a theory that I have been working on, it can explain in a logical way how Red John knew who would be on the list of seven suspects that Patrick Jane has created.

Since Red John has been following Patrick Jane for a long time now, it is clear that Red John could come up with a list of people that Jane has shaken hands with. After he captured Lorelei he made a video recording of her saying all of these names, so not just the 7, but ALL the names. Then he had someone break into Jane's lair and copy all of the Red John evidence that was lying around. Based on this intel he used the same skills that Patrick used and arrived at the list of seven suspects. He then edited the Lorelei video to make it appear as if she only said the seven names that where on the list.

If this theory would be proven correct then we can also assume that Kirkland is either working with/for Red John or that he is in fact Red John himself. Let me know what you think.

This is not any kind of theory but just a request. Please, everyone of you who claims that like The Mentalist, help me increase IMDb rating of the seria. I think it is too low and it's a real shame that this good seria doesn't even have the 8 rating. Please vote and give it rating 10. Thank you all.

Of the seven people, the only people who were young enough to have been "the kid" at Elliston Barn, and still old enough to have been friends with Orvalle Tanner (Dumar/Sheriff Hardy's Dad) are : 

1. Sheriff Mcallister
2. Gale Bertram

Of these two, Sheriff Mcallister as Red John makes more sense. He and Tanner could've both been in Elliston Barn, and he's the one who could've most likely gotten Dumar a job in the Sheriff's office

Not a theory but an observation and inquiry on my part....

Some people have suggested that it is too obvious that Bob Kirkland is Red john and he is most likely Miranda Martins boyfriend which would explain why he killed Jason Lennon.

However, after watching Red Sails in the Sunset and There Will Be Blood, Miranda Martins was killed something around 2007.

But when we were watching the episode Red Dawn and the particular scene when Alexa Schultz and Bob Kirkland were talking with Virgil Minelli regarding getting updates on the Red John files, that was around 2003-2004.

So my question is that why was Bob Kirkland pursuing Rj when Miranda Martins was still alive anyway? The timeline of events doesn't make sense....

I don't think Bob Kirkland is Rj to be honest but he must have some other motive regarding the Red John case.
