LATEST THEORIES

The only guest stars from the list in the episode 'Red John' are the actors for Gale Bertram and Reede Smith..........

I'm not sure what to believe anymore. The list has been focused on too much it can't be real yet I feel it can't be fake because it has been focused on so much...

But I'm about 90% sure Red John is someone we've seen this season but since Ray Haffner, Kirkland,Stiles and McAllister are missing from the episode where he is revealed I doubt it'll be them.

But I also seriously doubt it's either Bertram (because in Strawberries and Cream, him and O'laughlin were part of a ploy to find RJ's accomplice and if he was RJ he would've figured out the trap) or Smith (who was too young to have tortured and killed two people in 1988).

But what recurring actor do we have that can't be eliminated? There's CBI Karl, that's very similar to CBI Ron that someone has talked about here somewhere I think (?), and he is the only other recurring actor returning in the episode Red John. But he might've come a little late to be Red John and he's more of a technical advisor than actor so I don't know if he could really pull off the role that is Red John but we never know.

Other actors returning this season are Aunjanue Ellis (Hightower) and also the guy that plays Jason Cooper.

I was actually thinking a bit about Jason Cooper. He was forgiven awfully fast by Brett Stiles when he betrayed him don't you think? And we know that Stiles knows who Red John is.Could it be for that reason that Stiles didn't get rid of him immediatelyCooper does get an awful lot of respect for such a scrawny man. And we all know serial killers tend to be rather pathetic people. The only thing bugging me is someone at the visualize church would probably have recognized him if he was the 'kid' painting the face on the barn. Also would Red John really stand to be someone's understudy? Or is that precisely why it's such a good disguise?

Also there's Richard Haibach (suspect in San Joaquin Killer case) coming back for some reason but it would be kind of a stretch for Red John to be such a sad, lonely character that appeared in only one previous episode, I think.

Well, he did whisper ‘Tiger’ before dying.
Yes, he did. And that’s another clue that will have big ramifications later on. These next few episodes, essentially the first episodes of this season, all have those kinds of revelations and clues and hints and big steps forward in the mystery. And all will be revealed.

When do we revisit the Tiger clue?

Watch episode 4 and you will get some answers to that in episode 4. I can start very specific now about those. Episode 4 will give you some answers that go a long way to answering that question.

So,according to Bruno Heller , the Episode 4 will contains much clues and answers.

If he isn't Red John, then he is most certainly involved as when Jane showed the video of the 7 suspects to Lisbon, she said to Van Pelt something along the lines of "Jane's paranoid that Red John has read his mind because he knows the 7 people who Janes thinking of". The only way Red John would've known the 7 people that Jane thought it was is if he saw the plan that either Jane created in his apartment OR the one that Kirkland copied when he got two guys to break into Jane's apartment to take photos of the plan, which he then recreated in his office. That is the only way that Red John could have known Jane's 7 suspects because Jane didn't tell anyone about them- not even Lisbon- until he got the video from Red John.

Also, Kirkland from the start has this high-pitched and soft voice which Red John has. I noticed this similar voice in episode 2 of season 6 when Red John phones Jane and has Lisbon, painting the face on her.

I still don't see Kirkland's motive if he is Red John, but he's been interested in the Red John case from the start and had a copy of Jane's plan which makes me think he is either Red John or is working with him...

ELL-IS-MARS

"EL" means HE in Spanish.  So....ELL or  HE  --  IS  --- MAR:       HE IS MARS

Am I disappointed?  Yes, I am.

To think Ellis Mars is Red John seems fairly anti-climactic.  It is MUCH MORE FUN to think that Red John is a powerful Cult Leader and/or one of his minions, a stinking rich Socialite Playboy, a backwoods Sheriff, a CBI, FBI or Homeland Security insider, a creepy forensics Guy who has faked his own death LOL....and my personal favorite:  Jane's father or some long lost brother/rival from the old carnival days -- not to mention Jane himself!!

1.   And despite my disappointment, in many ways it makes PERFECT SENSE that Ellis Mars is Red John.  WHO really suspects him?  NO ONE!  There are only TWELVE other accusations of him on this website LOL!!  Because he acts like a bumbling buffoon parading around as an "astrologer" and "psychic" -- NO ONE TAKES that seriously.  What MORE perfect way to go undetected?  Plus, these types of killers are often very unremarkable -- and look and seem pathetic or normal, going easily undetected throughout their lives, amongst society.  BUT, they long to be someone.

2.  Which is why Jane tells that serial killers like to get involved in their own investigations in some way, or as helpers, as did the very unremarkable SJK killer.  Remember that Ellis Mars popped up out of nowhere offering his services.

3.  Mars is also the right age -- actor "JOHN" Billingsly was born in 1960 -- which makes it easy for RJ to have killed in the 80's and on...putting RJ around the ages of 45-55.

4.  Ellis Mars definitely fits the physical description, and has the right kind of style, a sort of professorly appearance and having a great appreciation for the finer things in life, particularly literature and poetry.

5.  "I forgive your brusqueness. I can tell that you have been visited by great tragedy."―Ellis Mars to Patrick Jane.  How much of a thrill must it have given Mars to say this if he was the killer?

The one question about Mars -- is wondering how someone like him in looks and demeanor could make people follow him or fall for him, like Lorelei -- but if in truth, Ellis Mars is smarter, craftier and talented in hypnosis, mind games and manipulation, WHY NOT?  You cannot fully know how attractive someone is until you know their full essence and inner attributes.  RJ always preys upon those who are lonely, lost, empty and in need of someone who KNOWS THINGS.

I think Ellis Mars successfully hid his true nature in "Red Moon"  and setting Jane up to write him off as a pathetic con man, which is perfect!  HOW smart and clever would RJ himself if he already got Patrick Jane to dismiss him long long ago?    And what's more, Jane has  BLIND spot to "PSYCHICS" -- he is both drawn to and repulsed by those who claim such a gift.  Look at his relationship to FRYE.  He NEEDS to either be FASCINATED with or have the ability to PUT DOWN anyone claiming to be psychic because of his own internal block about having been one, using those powers and what it cost him.  Jane may really be psychic, but he could never afford to be again, since he thinks it cost him his family.

Yes, truly sick that RJ would kill PJ's family because of PJ's psychic opinion -- only then to meet PJ in personal, claiming to be a the very thing that got PJ in trouble.

Yeah, my money is on Ellis Mars.

It is very insteresting that , Heller also speaking about of "Whale" all the time, is this a reference? Why all the time they use MOBY DICK and WHALE???

Heller: Up until now if you’re comparing it to Moby Dick, which is one of the analogies I
used to describe the length of the chase, next season the whale has been
sighted and they’re in the small boats and chasing the whale. It’s much faster
paced, more thrilling, more action, more surprises

This hearing is almost like a conversation that could take place between Patrick Jane and Red John. Note particularly two of Tommy's sentences: his flaming "Oh, spare me your moralizing!" and his mocking conclusion comment "You wouldn't understand." about how redemptive revenge is.

Show this theory

What if Bruno Heller is just messing around with the fans about the list and none of the persons on the list is in fact RJ?
I also think there was no reason to kill Wainright in season 4!! There might be some other mystery behind that that is going to be revealed..
I would really love it if it turns out to be a character like Cho, wayne or lisbon!! It will be like a bolt from blue...
