LATEST THEORIES

We started out with seven names on the list, of which we are sure one of them is Red John. Since Brett Partridge and Robert Kirkland are killed off, we are down to five names on the list. These names include Bret Stiles, Gale Bertram, Ray Haffner, Reede Smith and Thomas McAllister.

The Tyger Tyger Conspiracy is a government conspiracy consisting of high-ranking and low-ranking members of the various law enforcement institutions. I am sure Reede Smith is not Red John, since he is quite frankly not in the right shape to be able to commit such crimes. Plus, he is the one who killed off Kirkland himself, which doesn't seem a plausible option for the real Red John for me. Red John should be a up to this far hidden character on the list. Smith would now be too obvious, so I will rule him out as of now.

The next person on the list I am going to rule out is Gale Bertram. As the director of the CBI and, so far as I believe, a high-ranking member of the Tyger Tyger Conspiracy, Bertram is an important pawn in the games of Red John. Not Red John himself, for he has been too much in the spotlight in previous episodes and too directly related to Reede Smith as seen in the second episode of season 6. This reasoning also rules out Thomas McAllister, who has already been ruled out in the third episode of the season because of his hatred for pigeons. Also, he climbed the ladder at the chapel with ease, so the 'afraid of heights'-theory falls apart on him as well.

Two persons are left now: Bret Stiles and Ray Haffner. Whereas the other suspects were ruled out by a thin string of logic, this one is purely intuition. But come on, Bret Stiles as Red John? Really? No... I doubt it that any viewer so far has wanted to see Stiles as Red John. Powerful, yes. But too fatherly and warm to truly be Red John. Plus, he is also not in shape to have committed all of the murders Red John has committed. He is simply too old.

I believe Ray Haffner is Red John. Intuition also tells me Bret Stiles is his father, which would give the reason for as to why Stiles knows so much about Red John. But I have no proof for this statement to be build upon, so you can let this float.

Because of this, I believe Ray Haffner is Red John.

Yo gingers :) listen i sow the last episode of the mentalist, and i am a huuuuuge fan;)
On the scene where Bob met with Smith the fatBI agent. Why the hell did bob come with three cup's of coffee's, just wondering?? I think RJ is the one that the viewers love very much so it could be one of the members off the ``team lisbon´´ well i hope not but that's my theory :/ have good day you all;)

Question: How the heck did RJ get PJ's list?Interesting: Stiles hasn't made an onscreen appearance yet this season. Change of plan: I did like Haffner as RJ but now...I'm liking Michael Kirkland for RJ. They just introduced a twin character (they didn't say identical but he at least looks like Bob.) When PJ met Bob Kirkland Patrick thought he knew him from somewhere so in retrospect it is apparent that PJ has met Michael Kirkland and shook his hand and Patrick picked up on the resemblence. If I'm right: Then Heller lied about RJ being on the list.

I put few of my theories here and I'm for Mashburn bcos i don't trust this list.
Also Rosalind's description could be a red herring.

But one thing  I really hope is that "Partridge is alive" theory every second post.

I am tired of listening to that story even if is true.

And this idea with Reede Smith and Tyger Tyger tree house gang is disappointing.

Tyger Tyger

I think were all missing something big here. After watching episode 4 it seems everyone fixated on the idea that the Tyger Tyger group works for red john it is possible that it may be the other way round and that red john works for the Tyger Tyher group or jsut happens to be a member. Bruno heller stated that both actors that play both reed smith and gale bertram will return after the red john arc is over. Bruno goes as far as telling us that the walls around the cbi are crumbling and that they are having to deal with a great threat from inside(this is from a interviewe he gave after season 6  epsiode 2 explaining the meeting of bertram, smith and mcallsiter) so could this be the big threat that they are dealing with? It surely seems so and maybe the Tyger Tyger group will be what the mentalist focus on after the red john arc and maybe all this time red john was jut trying to help/taunt patrick with this information i  the hope he found out more of this group.

Last night's episode tried to paint Smith as RJ, however it's led me to a different suspect.

Michael Kirkland.

Bear with me here. They wouldn't introduce a twin this late into the season without a reason, it could have been any relative to be killed by RJ, yet they went with an identical twin, which suggests a plot reason.

We know Robert matched Rosalinds description, so being his twin, Michael would too. We know Rosalind said that RJ smelled of Earth and Pine, Michael owned a cabin in the woods, surrounded by pine trees, as last night's episode showed. We know from the girl in Red Rover that he's in his late 30's to mid 40's, Kevin Corrigan is 44, so it's the right age bracket. The description also points to Haffner, but i have no reason as to why he would smell of earth and pine.

So the physical evidence points to Michael, he's the correct age, yet we've never met him, so we don't know of his personal traits. Twins do typically share some traits, so lets assume that he's intelligent, manipulative and flustered under pressure (like Bob was in yesterday's episode). That now fits with Sophie the shrink's description of RJ.

It's going to be one of 3 men, Ray Haffner, Sheriff Tom McAllister or Michael Kirkland.

Kirkland is the best fit.

Let's examine the death of Bob Kirkland.  The reason that he asked Lennon if he recognized him before he killed him is that he wanted to know if his identical twin brother is still alive, and if Lennon had said yes, he would have asked him where he saw him, etc.  He also asked other suspects on the fake list if they recognized him, because if any of them were actually RJ, they would have known his appearance as Mark Kirkland.  However, since members of the Tyger-Tyger gang can lie so easily to nonmembers (Reede Smith to Bob Kirkland), that may not be an easy way to find RJ.  When Smith let Kirkland out of the back of the Police van, Kirkland knew his number was up, because he knew too much about the Tyger group, that is why he asked Smith 'Why not do it here' and Smith replied 'Protocol'.  The Tyger-Tyger group is obviously very wide spread, including police drivers in its' group.  It is going to be difficult for PJ, who doesn't know yet about the group.  Since the actor who plays Kirkland doesn't appear in episodes 6-7 thru 6-9 I think we can safely assume that Mark Kirkland is not still around.
