In this same episode Bertram tipped La Roche that Hightower was having a relationship with the killed cop, which made her a lead suspect. Bertram wanted Hightower to blame and did not instruct Lisbon to explore any other suspects or her being framed.

One of the most popular theories is because of a great catch first with Patrick saying red john has killed two people in the last couple days instead of saying three and partridge wearing the fishing hat and Lisbon saying he reeled me in like a fish I think those are great clues but I didn't see if anyone has said anything about when Patrick told Bertram he was getting close to red john and Bertram said he wants to be there when they reel that fish in. It may be nothing but does anyone think this has a connection to Partridge?
After Rewatching S01 E02 where McAllister was introduced, it looks weird a bit as if he want to be closer to Jane. He said (we are not prepared to this kind ...)
In contrast S06 E02 He said (why are you here? I think we can handle this ...) for almost a similar case
