THE THEORIES

So, who is Red John?

Red John is Sheriff Thomas McAllister.

No way you liked this episode, i could have directed this show as well. It's so damn simple to let clues all over these 5 SEASONS!! and then just "dont explain any of them". They didnt even know who was going to be Red John in Season 2 Finale... PJ was RJ Voice.. CMON.. ok, Heller owned me beliveing h  had a plan. There was no plan. Thats all.

Pleasure to share my time with you guys. See ya

My dear friends, it's been a long time coming, but finally it's all over. All the theories, all the discussions, all the suspects: gone. I don't want to talk about the "Red John" episode, cause it would be worthless. I just want to thank you all for the great time we've shared.
It's been a pleasure.

SIMON BAKER interview post Red John airing:

Baker:You want to know something I've never talked about?

TV Guide Magazine: Hell, yeah!
Baker: All those times we heard the voice of Red John? That was me.

TV Guide Magazine: Seriously?
Baker:
Yes! In the Season 2 finale, when Jane was captured and Red John did
that "Tyger, Tyger" thing with the mask on? That was me. I played both
characters in that scene.

TV Guide Magazine: Wow. That's especially trippy considering there was a major theory going around that Jane was Red John. So in a way that turned out to be true!
Baker:
That was the reason I did that. There was a point where Bruno was
saying, "We don't know who we're going to cast to play [the masked Red
John]." I said, "Don't cast anyone! I'll do it." Bruno was, like, "I
love it! I love it!" So I put on a mask and did that funny, wispy little
voice. And for seasons after, whenever Red John spoke, I had to go
record the voice.

So it seems we've all been duped guys. The story arc was never well thought out, nor planned beforehand. It was just a series of cliffhangers pulled out of a magician's hat (fitting?) designed to keep us glued to the show for the next "clue".

Just another average, run of the mill show, with some brilliant, well executed and memorable stand-alone moments. It dragged on way past its expiration date post season 3 finale, as most of us felt but couldn't bring ourselves to admit because of the potential redeeming feature of the Red John reveal.

I thoroughly enjoyed visiting this site all this time, and glad that I even took a small part in it. I believe it's time to leave this show behind us. It is now evident that the story has no answers, no potential wrap up. Even if it eventually gets one, we'll know now that said wrap up was thought out AFTER the story ended. Personally I wouldn't care for that, I prefer all your theories better.

All you guys have been wonderful, even the hotheaded ones. I attribute that animosity of some people towards others as merely passion for the show, which is acceptable.

EVERYONE THUMBS UP THIS SO PEOPLE CAN SEE IT.

This Episode "Red John" was the worst peace of sh*t that I ever saw in my life. I wasted 6 years on that show.

At least I can say:
I am never gonna watch and wait for the Mentalist again EVER! never ever ever ever!!!

Thank you Mr. Heller for such a bad Episode, I honestly was a true fan of the Mentalist and his SKILLS and the Red John Storyline but you ruined that wonderful show because of money and 6 Seasons.

PS: If I am ever in your shoes I wish I had RED JOHN TO KILL YOU SON OF A BITCH.

GREEN = RJ kill Heller please
RED = RJ kill myself for still liking a Moneymaker-Show with unlimited flaws by now ...

How can we not be disappointed, when the writing in here have been at such a level of creativity. I don't know how many writers the show has, but in here, there's hundreds of people sharing theories, combinding them into epic and plausible conclusions to this Red John hunt.

There's been talks about phobias, height of people matching descriptions, first handshakes, faking deaths, twin brothers...

How do we not get disappointed? We set the bar too high!

Some ups and downs for this episode.
McCallister played a perfect Red John until the pigeon trick.
How did he know RJ feared pigeons? He must have known it was McCallister, because he eliminated heights earlier.

Who the hell was the woman that came into the church?
RJ crying, people screaming help when seeing an injured man, RJ fearing death.....Didn't make sense to me.

So many questions.

Guess I'm hoping that some of it is revealed.

Really liked how they played Rock, paper scissor when they first met, and especially enjoyed the when Patrick strangled him. The satisfaction, or rather the weight lifted from his shoulders, the relief, really showed.

Thanks for a great reading on this site. People who created this should do it for every show that has an unwritten conclusion. People become so creative!

I actually always kind of thought it was Patrick Jane. I thought maybe he has some kind of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde thing going on. I knew that wasn't necessarily reasonable since the evidence suggested it was someone else. So I prepared myself to be disappointed. Seriously, though. Tonight's episode was terrible!! The whole series has been building to this one night, and Red John fell for the let-me-show-you-something trick. A pigeon. Red John was essentially beaten by a pigeon. It was lame that the episode had so much running. And how could McAllister get so far with that gunshot wound??? And his being an older man did he seriously have that much endurance??? I will say that it was SUPER creepy when McAllister did that Red John voice in the chapel. Overall all the episode was a terrible disappointment.
