I think that Partridge was killed because he stumbled upon a plot between Bertram, Reede Smith, and McAllister.  McAllister killed Partridge.  He didn't know Lisbon was tracing their phones.  I think she surprised him when she showed up and he tasered her before she could identify him.  He drew the smiley face on her to make it look like Red John murdered Partridge.  He quickly left the scene when the pigeons started flying.  In the most recent episode, we see he doesn't like birds, yet admits he likes to hunt "anything with a face" and doesn't mind the blood.  How Red John knew she was there and  was in danger I don't know.  

Anybody else here feels like his life will be kind of empty after the mentalist ends? meh..

I have no idea if the list is fake or not, if yes then i think it could be haffner, or reede because that idea with one of them being stiles' son makes sense imo, also sheriff is an interesting guy, if it's fake then I'll go with Ron or mashburn,

Just let me begin with stating that people in this forum are so damn stupid sometimes. It's really dumb saying that the list we know of is false due to the trailer to "Red Listed". That's not the case. This is another list, which Jane put up to any intruder that would come sneaking into his room in the CBI building. It's really obvious anyhow. We've all seen the episode we're Kirkland's guys grabs the information from Jane's office and handes it over to Kirkland, who drinks Bloody Mary looking at the material he's got. 

"Jane reveals that a list of fake Red John suspects he planted was stolen and the team realizes these men are in danger."

That is the description of the episode. People on this list is probably people we've seen before, possibly Hightower. My uneducated guess is that Kirkland, who's been looking for Red John for years for his own reasons, finds out about this and decides to torture Patrick to find out the real list of seven.

I think Ray Haffner is Red John. He's not too suspicious and not too obvious. He has the right looks and age, he is a member of Visualize and he's a real charmer. But I'm not sure. My tip to all you guys out there is to not focus on details, i.e. RED HERRINGS. Heller is probably trowing all sorts of herrings at us right now.

I believe its Ray. He fits most of the description. He visited Lisbon in hospital. Also, they killed his character off in the show Bones which leads me to believe they are giving him time to shoot more episodes of The Mentalist. I am not really sure if the list is fake. Some say its real some say its not. I hope they kill off multiple people at once, maybe leading to Red John dying and no one ever finding out who he is. 

Red John has to be charming and somewhat good looking as he seemed to have quite a way with women.  This lets out most of the suspects.  Bret Stiles, although he has the charm, power and money to pull off all these murders is too old to fit the profile.  Kirkland is too creepy and doesn't seem like he has money.  Haffner is reasonably attractive, can definitely be charming and has enough money to at least own his own business.  RJ also has to be in good physical condition.  Bertram is slightly too old and does not seem in good condition.  I believe RJ is Haffner, his accomplice is Kirkland and maybe they have Stiles with his money backing them.

just wana say i deinently do not think that it is gale bertram. obvioulsy we know that Van Pelt is a member of vizualuze that was obvious to me in season 5. so i think brit styles is red johns father and he most likely in asks her to fill him in on what the team is doing. i also believe that laralye is not dead and that read john just staged her death... but then that also begins to make Bob Kirkland a suspect as he got he got his agents to get the mind map Jane worked out.. although the therory of

- He has many friends - because he is member of the visualization
- excelent whistler - It was meant to Sheriff, but when Ray left Lisbon in hospital, He was whistling
- When Sofia is describing 'damage of the narcistic personality' camera focus on Stiles, but on the right is Ray Haffner.
- When Lisbon asks him, if he was ever been on the farm, he just avoids the answer
