THE THEORIES

Actually, I posted my theory as a fanofmentalist, but they did not post it. I do not know why? I posted my first theory about walking steps of RJ in #5638. so, at that time, Patrick realised to Bertram's steps sounds. In se6ep3, Patrick told to Sheriff that he comes to Jane silently and Jane did not recognize him. I think Patrick has already known who RJ is and he is gathering some information, that's clues. If you remember when RJ saved Patrick's life, Patrick heard RJ's steps and, once RJ told Patrick a poem "Tyger, Tyger", RJ went away, we could hear it from his steps. But, suddenly, RJ touches Patrick from his left side with his hand and told about Crystine Frye. At that time also Patrick was afraid, because RJ came silently.
Any comments?

Apparently, we'll know a lot more after 6x04: https://twitter.com/itsameric/status/390680579173548032

not a theory, just some thoughts. i really don't have a theory at this point. seems like each suspect has a compelling 'for' and 'against' argument.

i re-watched the 3rd episode tonight, and something about the rigsby/gvp wedding struck a nerve. i feel like i remember reading somewhere that red john referred to his female victims as his 'brides.' (can anyone back me up on that?)

what if the smiley face isn't a smiley face, but a wedding ring symbol.

if we read it in that fashion, then the 'random' female victims become brides, so 'relatives,' and a lot of the other crimes involve 'family:' the sisters kidnapped at the end of the first season (one bride for red john who is killed, one for dumar to be caged), timothy carter and his wife (making it a 'family' affair. and the girl they had kidnapped was in a room like their 'kept daughter.') the baby stolen for laura san giacomo's character, and lorelei and her sister.

i'm reading red john as a twisted 'father figure,' building his 'family' through subtraction. maybe it wasn't that patrick insulted red john with 'sick little man' comments. maybe it was the fact patrick specifically indicated he was helping the police find the killer, and red john saw his 'family' threatened. he responds by killing patrick's family, as a message: 'this is what it felt like you were doing to me.' the other killings done to prevent discovery or hide evidence become red john 'protecting his family.'

My theory? Maybe the craziest I know but it makes perfect sense.
Here it is:
Maybe none of the 7 suspects is Red John. Let me explain myself. Lisbon and Jane don't know how RJ knew about the suspects months before Jane started to analyze who could be RJ with his thousands suspects.. Even Lisbon thought he had magic powers or was a psychic! But... RJ is way clever than that.

Red John is a master hypnotist. We all know that. So maybe he hypnotized the 7 suspects, wether they are his disciples or not. Red John hypnotized all of them so they could give Jane some ''hints'' they [maybe] are RJ. And Jane goes with the hints instead of thinking outside the box, thinking like Red John. But soon, he'll realize it.

So let me recap it: none of the suspects are RJ. They all were hypnotized by him so they could mislead Jane into his own investigation of finding out who is Red John. I don't know who he is and I won't accuse someone. Great job RJ, but Jane will catch you...

Even if...

...there is something bigger than that. I can feel it, do you?

OK, following on from my successful Crocodile Dundee theory, i have some new ideas. Clearly, RJ is good with women (able to manipulate them), so he must be a good physical specimen.

He's obviously charismatic, manly and talented at whatever he wishes to do.

So by my reckoning, RJ is Macho Man Randy Savage.

I think RJ himself wrote that "He is Mar" writing on the wall. Because when you're dying you dont waste time or energy to write "He is". You just write the name. Just like Lorelei's sister Miranda. She didn't write "He is Roy", she just wrote "Roy".

The question is, why? I believe that wasn't written for Jane. He wrote it for someone else, to send some kind of message. Because if it was for Jane, it would lead him to a trap but nothing happened.

Chapter 4x01 - Scarlet Ribbons, approximately at minute 22.

Patrick Jane visits Timothy Carter's home. They go to the back door, and just before meeting Charlene Carter, the camera shows some guests in the living room - a memorial to Timothy Carter is about to start -  behind the glass of the door.

The man facing the camera on the left side... isn't he Sean Barlow?

I cannot watch the series in HD, but I would say he is. Could anyone confirm this with HD image?
