Red John has completely broken into The CBI and we can see his trademark smiley all over the CBI HQ, with Lisbon and Rogsby watching over smiley's painted on the floor and other places, while two people can be visible in the background, shot and possibly killed.
One is a girl leaning against the wall in the far background and one person fallen to the far right.
BADASS. I'm dying of excitement. Its gonna be AN AWESOME SEASON. CAN'T WAIT!!

The fact that the majority of Mentalist viewers actually believe Red John to be one of the suspects on Jane's list of seven is laughable. At what point has this show ever suggested that the true murderer is the one that Jane + friends suspect? It's always the person that has given you NO VISIBLE REASON to suspect them. Why would Red John be any different. The list? A RED herring.
This series ain't over and they wouldn't show their final hand until the last possible moment. It's no one on the list and this entire upcoming season is going to amble its way to that inevitable conclusion. We might ultimately be closer to the truth, but we might have all just fallen for another stalling technique. Wrap it up before it gets stale, is what I say.

First murder was while he was supposedly in "Visualize" back in 1988, a full 10 years before the '98 killings.

This is not any kind of theory but just a request. Please, everyone of you who claims that like The Mentalist, help me increase IMDb rating of the seria. I think it is too low and it's a real shame that this good seria doesn't even have the 8 rating. Please vote and give it rating 10. Thank you all.

I believe Red John isn't a single person I believe it's a network of killers. A network trained by a man called Red John but a long time ago nd now this Red John is dead. Kindve like the saw movie where his work goes on. Jane might have shook hands with Red John, so he thinks. Jane thinks it's a single person but the Red John network,having known this, probably are mentalist them selves. Trained to lie and not be discovered. It could be any of the suspects or maybe all. Red John is not a person it's a secret network.

Patrick is still in the mental institution (mentalist/mental list/is mental).

Okay, Jane found his wife and daughter killed in their home and ends up in mental care which is understandable. But do we know for sure that he ever got out?
The characters could be in Jane's head or just other patients(there is something dodgy about a lot of them, they have their disabilities or personal struggles), and Red John could be an imaginary person, that his brain created to cover for the terrible thing that happened to his family - he needs something to search for to find fairness. The whole "mentalist world" is not realistic.
