ARGUMENTATION

Damn...I don't know if Heller is a genius or a beast.

I was so so SO completely sure it would be Bertram, the only rock on my shoe was that stupid anonymous call and the gps tracking that just didn't fit.
But now, that he is shown as RJ, and the way he is shown, I just can't believe it's him. The way episode 7 was filmed it's not coherent with him being RJ, it would have been the most shitty episode  of mentalist if he was RJ.
Or..not? Is Heller messing with us? Is this a mental trick?
Is he rubbing the true in our faces and we are denying to see it? Are we being tricked exactly because we expect just one more final trick?
Damn you Heller...lol, get out of my head, I' have work to do, can't be thinking about this the whole week.

Well, my final shot, if it turn's out to Bertram not being RJ, than Sheriff is the only option left.
There is no time in the next episode to develop RJ being pursued by Jane and explain also other complex stories in suspects like Kirkland's twin brother, etc.
And Partridge is dead, Cho saw his dead body. How could he not have seen his face?
And no, it's not the same thing with Sheriff returning from the dead, his body wasn't found and tyger tyger may have planted the DNA or messed with the DNA analysis. Don't you remember? That's what they did to frame Hightower, it's not exactly new.

Also, like other's have said, he is the only one that may have survived the blast (besides Gale and Reed). Pause the image and you will see the explosion will come from the other side of the room, where Bret and Haffner were, no way any of them could survive, and they wouldn't be stupid to bring a bomb and make it explode in the exactly place they were. The explosion had to be caused or by Bertram (it seems he left something in the sofa), or by Sheriff (he left his hat in the sofa).
And there is the clue at the end of season 6 episode 1, if RJ is the Sheriff the clue must be those damn pigeons he is scared of, what else could it be?
Well, he also fit's more or less to Rosalind's description (but I don't think that's a very relevant clue, because PJ doesn't think also).
Also, that fits with PJ behavior of letting it go...because when he went to the press accusing Bertrand of being RJ he knew RJ would go after him (and we all know that's going to happen).
In Sheriff = RJ scenario, Bertram would be just a smart psychopath, maybe the leader of tyger tyger,  and that's the reason he would not be killed by tyger tyger.

In my opinion, is the psychological profile that fails, Sheriff, to me, is such a low profile guy and he doesn't show enough narcissist behavior (and I don't think it's possible to someone hide so completely that characteristic), remember RJ killed PJ family just because he trashed him on TV, there is also that scene when he told to Jane he is not Red John, let's face it, that is almost as bad as Gale Bertram trying to kill Jane in a hurry.
But well, I don't think there are other options now, besides Gale and the Sheriff.

The encrypted list, I think it's the identification of all tyger tyger members.
To continue the show in a different direction, they had to find it, so that they are able to find and arrest all tyger tyger members and turn the page after the next episode. I think it's just that.
