I think for some time now, that RJ is Jane's father. He's upset with Jane (obviously) and wants to hurt him. That would explain also how he knows so much about Jane, his past, ans the way he thinks and solve cases. BUT... And that's the trick of my theory... I think Bob Kirkland IS Jane's father !!! Remember before killing RJ's disciple at the hospital he said "do you recognize me?" ? He had a surgical operation of the face ! He changed his identity I think. When he shook hands with Patrick, Patrick said "do I know you?" Because he reminded him of someone somehow. That would explain too why RJ has a obsession with Patrick and wanted him as a disciple and friend back in season 3 and 4. Maybe he wanted his son's back. And then Bob said "no, but I know YOU"... So I think now Bob alias Jane's father is Red John.
