ARGUMENTATION

Patrick's father is Red John. Clearly.

Why is Gale Bertram on the list of 7? Makes no sense. Does no one remember the episode Strawberries & Cream, where Red John's associate (the mole) leaks the floor number of the hotel where Hightower is hiding? If both Red John (Bertram) and his associate O'Laughlin had different info on where she was hiding, they would know it was a trap and wouldn't have sent the assassin. Therefore, Bertram cannot possibly be Red John. Besides, he's too likeable. A puppy dog.

I'm thinking it could be Alex Jane, although it is a pretty big leap, given that RJ's interest in Jane was (seemingly) coincidental - i.e. Jane brought about his interest, rather than RJ choosing him at "random". However, how do we really know that it was coincidental? It could've been set up by Alex himself somehow. We don't have enough info really.

We know how Red John got the suspect list. We clearly saw his associate, Bob Kirkland, steal a copy of the list and begin to narrow it down. Obviously, they're keeping tabs on Jane - they've either bugged him or have him tailed for an extensive period of time, and are therefore able to know his contacts and his mindset. How RJ knew about the girl (the memory), however, could only be explained by his identity as his father, or of someone who he knew at that age. Alternatively, he could have an ally who knew Patrick from a young age (his father, or maybe the big fluffy haired guy who played one of the Others in Lost).

My theory about these crime shows is that, if a "big" actor comes in to play an "extra" role in an episode, they usually have a bigger part than you would first expect. These actors/actresses are unwilling to play a very small role. In the season finale, it was obvious that Laura San Giacomo was the person of interest, since she is too big an actress to have a 2 minute extra slot.

The only other thing I can think of (if it's a twist) is that Red John is a woman and the reason all his associate refer to him with the male pronoun is because he is biologically a woman but has the mentality of a man.

But let's get real. The writers of this show didn't know who Red John was when they started writing the script. They probably don't even know who he is know. His identity will be introduced randomly when it gets close enough to the end of the series, and that really sucks, because theorising on previous episodes is pointless for that reason. Let's hope they remember Strawberries and Cream before they slip up and give Bertram the RJ card.

Lol.

I'm kidding, I love this show.
