ARGUMENTATION

Hi! This is my first post - sorry for the lenght + english is not my first language...;-) If we take in what we very likely know of RJ to be true, many of the 7 can be eliminated. I have tried to draw my own conclutions regarding some facts, but these are just thoughts and theories; not necessary what I think is the answer/reason/right explanation. I am arguing for two co-existing theories; 1) I believe that the RJ character could be an alibi for a deeper plan 2) Janes involvement in some master plan amuses RJ, and is possibly based on deeper issues from the past. So now; back to what I regard as facts:

Very much alike Jane; metalizing skills They are both showmen, likes poetry, classical music. They`re both relentless, manipulative – and will never give up. Most likely RJ is also charming. Resembling Jane so much; hypnosis/mentalizing could be a part of explaining how he always gets his way, and recruits diciples including many women. (The number of times Kirkland has tapped him on the arm, and brushing of him is worth mentioning).

Partrigde and Bertram (and Reede, macAllister, Heffner to a degree) do not have these charming and grand qualities in my female opinion... The only two who actually have the charm, karisma and manipulation skills, are Kirkland and Stiles; I`m very sure of the fact that RJ and Jane are very similar; is a crucial fact that can not be ignored. Rebecca, Lorelei and miss Gottlieb all knew RJ, and they all have stated it numerous times. Janes mentalizing skills is his most prominent characteristica. Which should be an important (the most important?) characteristic in RJ as well. But of course, RJ could put on a public act.

"The Tyger", Africa and the bigger picture
Without darkness there can be no light, without evil there can be no good. Rebecca repeats this RJ-mantra; says that RJ made PJ open his eyes when he killed his family. RJ recruits people who have gone through very rough times; abused, scarred and damaged. They are easy targets for him, and perhaps how he chooses his diciples. Jane reads Rebecca, and says that she was an abused child etc, and that RJ made her feel loved. Jane thinks RJ killed Lorelais sister to steal the only one she loved so he could "save" her from the pain. Lorelei also says that RJ opened her eyes. She even says «her sisters death was a gift... Made me face my deepest fears... I have full awareness now... Nothing can hurt me».

To get Jane as a friend and/or diciple (which both RJ himself and Lorelai said he wants), RJ had to make his life a living hell; make him hit rock bottom. If my theory is true about RJ knowing Jane from before (and obviously admiring him; Stiles says "it`s a form of love»), then he would need to do something to destroy his wonderful life. And thus, after knowing evil ("The Tyger") and having nothing left, he can recruit him and save him, make him open his eyes. Making Jane think he brought this upon himself made the loss even greater. If this is true, then RJ didn`t kill his family because PJ slandered him in the media. RJ used that as a motiv to kill them and destroy Janes life. Then Jane would actually be free of the guilt his lost years of sleep over.

So I`m reluctant to think RJ really cared about being slandered in the media; all for Janes guilt. And when Jane set up Panzer to insult RJ on TV, RJ perhaps saw this as a fun invitation from Jane; killed him because Jane wanted him to. Jane then framed the deceased Tom (the father of Panzers victim who killed himself) making him responsible for killing Panzer, but this didn`t make RJ angry. Because it was a part of the game, the invite. RJ liked "working" with Jane, sparring with him. In a way they killed Panzer together.

Many hints about Africa. Timothy Carter and his wife have a child of african origin. Carter himself grew up in Africa by mitionarys; turned up in the US in 2006. Carter also says «I have skills and resources that I can use to really make a positive change in the world to other people, the children.» Dr. Linus is building a health center for needing children in Africa; justifies his killings with this good samaritan act. Claimes he has saved 3.000 children. He also believes he isn`t a wicked man, which I find interresting. I also find it interresting that in his copycat-letter to Jane says he has now 12 wives. Family is often an issue.

Several times Jane has been watching documentaries about tigers on tv (is a multiple clue; the chase + the poem (+ Africa?)). Dumar gives Rosalind a stuffed elephant. Cassie (the journalist Volker had killed) did a story on a baby tiger in the zoo.

Todd Johnson says to Jane that «you dont see the big picture; it would blow your mind». Afterwards it is confirmed that Todd is one of RJs men. In the car (in the season 4 finale) RJ tries to convince Jane of joining him, tempting him with what a life they could lead; «it`s a higher path... a nobler existence». Dumar says to Jane he must wait and see what RJ wants to keep him for, that «it`s going to be so much fun».
Dumar gets RJ to help him kidnap the woman he desire, while RJ himself kills her twin sister. Another example of RJ killing a potential diciples loved one. Making her suffer. She may very well be what Sally Carter once was; she could of been Timothys desire. A deal where everybody wins.

This can «justify» all the killings, and explain why his followers are so loyal. Maybe this bigger picture is a promise of something which is actually very positive, and is the background for his success in recruitment. At least two of RJ accomplices are the head of a womens shelter (Julia Howard and miss Gottlieb). It is discovered that at least 5 women are unacounted for at Julias shelter; one of them Miranda Martins. Lennon confirms that RJ wanted Miranda spesifically; she was weak and had an abusive boyfriend. And was Lorelais sister. RJ is possibly murder the women he fails to recruit, has to get rid of them. Strenghtening that the RJ character is therefor just an alias and a motive to kill them (an act).

I think this point is the most important one. Because it really doesn`t matter who RJ is; it is his agenda and his plan that is so interesting, and will be the wow-factor. So what is the big picture? I doubt it is related to religion; RJ told Jane that there is no hell («you and I both know there is noe hell»). Rosalind says he smells of pine and nails and earth (Taglioferro. Iron. Nails). I feel that somehow the bigger picture involves building something; both fysical and, aspecially, metaforically speaking. Creating.

RJ is recruiting diciples, making friends in high places and thoughtfully placing the pawns on his chessboard in the right possition. And I believe we will be blown away once we learn the true purpose of all this. Something along the line of a James Bond villain type of scale; like creating a new and better world in his own image...

RJ quotes Blake: «what immortal hand or I could frame thy fearful symmetry». It is God who framed (created) all the creatures in the poem. Including the tiger, so capable of both good and evil. RJ is grand in his own mind – and with this idea he is doing the same as God in the poem. He is framing his own creatures; beautiful and symmetrical in his own eyes. Symmetrical meaning that they have free will, and can choose between right and wrong. Another line in the poem is «What the hand dare seize the fire?». The greek God Prometheus stole fire from Zeus and gave it to mankind.

RJ says to Jane «as you know there is no hell... When I die I won`t be punished...». Lorelai is nodding while he says this, underlying the importance of this shared belief. The created tiger will also not be punished. RJ is taking the poems role of God. And his diciples are Gods creatures. Mankind.

The fact that Visualize were trying to create an agricultural empire I think also important to the bigger picture. They wanted each farm to be a self sustainable biochemical community, growing what they needed. RJ was somehow involved at Elliston farm, and killed the workers there. Why? Was it here a seed sprung to life, influenced by the ideologies and doctrines of Visualize?

Tommy Volker was working on a geothermal plan in the Amazones, being responsible for killing many villagers to realize his plans – could be just coincidental, but thought worthy. Kirkland also incourages Lisbon to leave Volker alone; he is a powerfull man that contributes to a lot... He could be an important "investor" to RJ master project).

The poem also refers to the greek God Haphaestus, who is a blacksmith God of fire and metallurgy, creating weapons, armor and artwork for the other Gods. «In what furnace was thy brain?» is implying that the tiger is made of hard metal. «What dread grasp, Dare it`s deadly terrors clasp?» leans towards the tiger being more evil then good; dark and mysterious. Tagliaferro. Cut iron. RJ solutions.
The poem`s last verse only differ from the first with the last line altered. Instead of «could frame thy fearful symmetry?», it is now «dare frame thy fearful symmetry?». RJ.

RJs face
Several clues have been given towards him having changed his face. Timothy carter saying "Get myself a new face, a new identity. Start a new life". Kirkland showing up a year later with his "do you recognize me?" to Lennon (who knows RJ). Kirkland by the way looks a little "plasticky"... Like he can`t move his face naturally, and is almost too groomed (he is not like that in real life). Kirkland`s reaction to meeting Jane was also odd; afterwards it was like he was giddy. Almost starstruck.

When RJ met Jane he wore a distorted mask. Perhaps that was not so far fetched a choice of mask, if he had just undergone surgery, or was in some way telling Jane he was planning to.

The smiley face
The fact that it looks just like Jane is uncanning. With his sad eyes naturely
curving down lateral, and his hair swirling to the right. And Jane has spent most of his life sad, but smiling... An ongoing act from childhood till adultary. In a way RJ has in fact made Jane come into full awareness, like Lorelai said she did. Jane even uses this manoevre himself sometimes, allthough in i much milder version of RJ. Like when he tricked Lisbon into thinking they were dying after being exposed to a virus. Afterwards he says (one of two reaons why he did this) that she should feel good now that she gotten her life back. Similar minds...

He is Mar I think there is no way someone who is dying starts a message off with the words "he is...". It is impossible that it really says that. The mexican hooker may have written what Jared said whilst they were both dying. His friend, who was a friend of Red john, was perhaps Ellis Mars.

The girl we can assume speaks spanish. To write what she just heard would be something like el es Mars or ella es Mars. I spoke with a spanish friend who says this is spanish for he is or she is. Mar means ocean. She probobly didnt speak english, and just wrote what she heard Jared say. Jared would not recognize RJ, but would still be able to give a clue to whom his informant was. I dont believe Mars is RJ, but one of his diciples. And the fact that he is a (fake) psycic, is just so appropriate. It all comes back to this. Back to Janes and RJs roots I believe. (Also noticed the farm owned by Visualize in «The red barn» is called Elliston Farm).

Mars also has a business card I saw someone says looks like a beeming tigerface on it; and only on the one given to Jane. Mars is known as the red planet and he says to Jane "without doubt there can be no faith".

Not friends RJ wants them to be friends; his fascination with jane is undoubtable. There is a reason he hasn`t killed him yet; the world is a much more thrilling place for RJ with PJ in it. He loves an audience. Stiles is a friend; Jane also said he wouldn`t hurt a fly. Stiles also says that RJ sounds like an unpleasant sort of fellow, and that he would help him catch him if he could.

Partdridge In the first episode Partridge is very exited about the RJ-murder; jumps around imitating how RJ would have smashed the victims head in with a golf club. We know by the end that it was in fact a copycat who did it. If Partridge was indeed RJ, he would never childishly impersonate how RJ just had killed; because he would know someone else was actually behind it.

Lorelei Martins death Lorelei was found in a carny scene; a life I believe PJ and RJ have in common. I am also unsure of her death. There was just something off in that scene. She looked to «staged» compaired to the other victims. She looked a sleep, peaceful. If she in fact was alive (drugged?), it would explain why the video could be made after Kirkland stole Janes "wall of evidence".

It would be easy to make Lorelai look wounded in the video when in fact she was all healed, because it had then been that long a time since she was shot. That was why she wasn`t wounded anymore being dead. It could be a mistake from RJ to have her not wounded anymore when deceased - or it was perhaps a little clue to Jane. Just to amuse RJ, to not make it to easy for him. He still wants to play, wants the cat and mouse chase to be interresting. Also; I read someone here mentioning the poster «alive» where she was found, which I agree strenghtens the theory that she is still alive.

Sean Barlow Also connects RJ to the old carny life. The Barlows and Janes have been close, and maybe one male member of this family could be RJ. Sean seems to know a lot about Jane; like that he is getting close to RJ. How could he just randomly know that, and the exact same day when Jane told Lisbon himself that he was in fact getting close?

He must have some information, or he is just a good mentalizer/reader. When Sean asks Lisbon where she was last night, she glances at Jane shyly. Even I thought; were you with him? And that she is a believer; she is wearing a very visible cross. And if RJ is a Barlow (in Kirklands/someones elses new face...?), he himself is probably a mentalist. Which explains how he is in fact always one step a head of Jane. Barlow says right out, that RJ has powers.

Sean acuses the Janes of being unbelivers, who uses the faith of believers to steal from others with their lies and wickedness. There is a deeper conflict here. And with RJ being a part of this story. Jane himself says that the hole family are "psycics"; or in fact mentalists? Seems like Jane has much more in common with the Barlow family then of his own. Perhaps he is in fact a member of their family? PJs father and Sean were enemies. Why? What happened? Could Sean have had an affair with PJs mother, and is in fact his real father? It has always been hard to believe that Alex was Janes father; him being so immoral and deliberately cruel, and not brightt like Jane. And if this is the case; is PJ and RJ (being Sean`s son) half brothers? This could explain the happy memory as well. I am convinced that the happy memory is based on a primary source, someone who was there.

Kristina Fry Returns after being taken by RJ as deeply altered. Perhaps this was sort of a gift to Jane. He never believed she could communicate with the spirits, and now she is doomed to do exactly that (forever?). RJ made her live her lie, and thereby honoring Jane who tought she was a fraud; kind of like honoring Jane by killing Panzer.

She goes on a date with Jane; and she «reads» the waitor (to Janes frustration). She "hears" the words "roll tide", which the waitor explains with his uncle loving the crimson tide. Later that same episode RJ whispers to Jane that "Kristina would want me to send her love (...) Roll tide". He must have orchistrated the dinner, and listened in. Kristina is possibly one of RJs diciples, and like Mars, she is a "psycic". A fun game for RJ, again playing on the psycic skills. RJ is taunting Jane with the shame from his previous life. Even his wife Angela begged Jane to give up the scam (told by a witness).

Kristina is, as manye others, a tool for RJ. When he has no more need for her, he uses her to make a statement towards Jane. Showing off his superiority by hypnotizing Fry. She returns like in a trance, trapped in the world of the dead. He could easily have killed her instead. Her returning in that condition is again RJ putting on a show; and for his favorite audience.

Tea and legs crossed When we see RJ at Rosalinds, he looks exactly like Jane. In a suit, legs crossed, ring on his finger and a cup of tea in his hand. Its one of two; either he idolizes Jane and is trying to be him in a way, or they really are that alike (Lorelai: «You really are just like him»).

Boscows death RJ says (through Rebecca) that he killed the new team because then the RJ case would return to Jane, and that he thought that was what Jane wanted. Says he missed him. Regarding Rebeccas death; if it was RJ disguized in a police/security uniform, then many people there would have reacted if it was someone they knew. I mean, if for instance Bertram og Partrigde where walkning around in a «police - disguize» in the basement. It could be a diciple who killed her. But she was so happy, so I`m leaning towards it being RJ. She may have thought he was there to save her. This would be before his transfomation, so he wouldn`t be noticed (exept by Jane who didn`t see him).

Bertram
After Jane shot Timothy Carter, Bertam wanted Jane to be emprisoned; didn`t have any sympathy with him. He is all about the press. This is very unlike RJ, who on many occations protects him and wants him to stay around. I`m not supriced if RJ with his widely spreading arms was behind the "not guilty verdict" in some way as well. He wants him in his life; or else he would have taken care of it himself long ago.

Heffner Is being humiliated and outsmarted by Jane when he steps in as team boss, as Lisbon gets suspended. Very unlikely behavior from the real RJ (but again; could be an act). He also tries to recrute Lisbon to his new security firm, maybe having an alternate agenda like visualizing her...? RJ enjoys the bond between Jane and Lisbon, and would never want to separate them. He will always have the levarage over Jane being well aware if his achilles heal; Lisbon. He would never want to remove her/kill her.

RJ challanged the loyality (love) Jane has towards Lisbon when he ordered him to bring him her head. Jane could of gotten to RJ if he had done this; but of course it was never an option. I have a feeling this was a test of his affection for her. Something he can later take advantage of; Jane being forced to choose between Lisbons life, or killing/getting to RJ. Ig RJ in the end does not win Jane over to his side, he may kill/try to kill Lisbon. In that way he will punish Jane all over again, in the same way he has done before.

This is why he says to Timothy Carter that he will get married and have kids again, «after your dead». He can never risk going on in that way with RJ still alive. He could do as his daughter (in fact himself since she was his hallucination) encourages him to do. Go on with his life; and liking Lisbon. He could forget about RJ and go on; but he would never be safe, and he would never have another family.

The RJ human disguize I dont think that Kirkland is to obviuos as RJ. I`m thinking that he is just a shell, a face, a disguize for RJ to now get around in. The real element of surprise would be; who is he actually, not in what form he is presenting himself. I believe we will know who he is physically, before we learn who is behind the fasade.

Maybe RJ had to change his appearance to become a public figure; Jane and others would otherwise recognize him. Kirkland is a "newly" introdused character. Timothy Carter said that he would start his life over; so perhaps in the form of an agent who could now be much closer to Jane, and follow his every move even closer. Thus continue his grander plan close to his powerfull friends, which Jane says RJ has "all over America". Kirkland says to Lisbon that he «grew up all over America». Can be interpritated as having friends all over, and the fact that he is a carny child as well. RJ first words to Jane (tied to a chair) was "do you know who I am?". Janes first words to kirkland was "do I know you?" I`m not accusing Kirkland. He just fits the best in my take on what is the real story behind it all. All the other 7 have «had their faces» the longest...

One thing I`m so curious about, is the toothpick in the attic door. Jane must have had a concrete suspicion for leaving it there. He gets pleased when he sees someones has been there; confirms his suspicions.

I want to believe the list – but this action by Jane has me riddled. Is he happy because he knows that RJ knows what about his progress? Or is he happy because he knows what RJ thinks he knows? Meaning the attic was full of misleading information. I`m leaning towards the evidence being real. Where Janes plan perhaps went wrong was that he never expected RJ to aknowledge that he knew about the list. As well I think the happy memory trick scared Jane, but also will help him along the way.

Thanks for reading the whole thing:-)
