I just have a theory that RJ and Lisbon wants the same thing from PJ.
They want PJ to quit and get new life. We will see both the facts side by side.
1.) what does RJ want from PJ:RJ could easily kill PJ if he wants.
He easily killed todd johnson. it would be very easy for him to kill PJ.But he does not want to kill PJ. In fact, he helps PJ, when PJ got abducted in season-2 finale. why?so can we assume he cares about PJ?
Simply RJ wants to play mind games with PJ and be one step ahead all the time.
I think he likes/admires PJ up to a point.
He asks PJ if he is ready to quit. if he has given up the chase?
He(RJ) asks PJ to be his friend/disciple and they could lead a higher path.
In the mall, (Fake)RJ says that he is not worth ruining PJ's life and asks him to get new life.
why would RJ ask all this if he wants to kill PJ badly.?PJ wants to kill RJ badly, but RJ does not want to kill PJ at any cost.
Because of PJ, RJ lost his inside man Criag Olaughlin.
He himself had to kill Lorelei who was very close to her.But still RJ does not get mad and kill PJ or the one who PJ trusts more which is Lisbon. why?
if RJ does not want to kill PJ, then he have to be so sure that PJ will not catch him.
for that, he has to know all the plans of PJ so he can be a step ahead and play mind games with him.
if not he is just risking getting caught by not killing PJ. agreed?
if he have to be that confident, then he has to really get close to PJ.
Who else is close to PJ than Lisbon? Just think.
2.) Lisbon's interactions with PJ:
Lisbon alwyas says that she would stop PJ killing RJ.
she does not want PJ to take revenge.
Everyone watching this series wants PJ to catch/kill RJ one day.
Even the jury thought that PJ is right in killing the (fake)RJ guy in the mall.
But why would Lisbon admit once that its ok for PJ to kill RJ?
Because she is linked to RJ somehow and she wants PJ to get over that.
At the start of season-4, Lisbon tries to convince PJ that RJ is dead. why?
why does (RJ)he asks for Lisbon's head as gift from PJ?
Because he came to know that PJ is faking just after PJ told the whole thing to Lisbon in church.?
Lisbon is supposed to come late when catching Dumar. but she showed up earlier in the Dumar episode.We could see that RJ was there whole time and just left before lisbon arrived. Co-incidence?
Everytime when Lisbon get involves, PJ somehow misses his target(RJ).Season-3 and Season-4 finale are all examples.
3.) Points to suggest Lisbon is somehow linked to RJ:
I think PJ is starting to suspect Lisbon.
May be he found something about lisbon connecting to RJ.
In the last episode of season-5:PJ said Lisbon would get mad at him if he says the reason why he will not reveal the suspects to her.
He also said that he cannot trust any one right now and he looks at her very strangely.
He also said that he can tell three things that lisbon keeps as secret from everyone but then lisbon decides not to talk on that anymore.
PJ also kept watching Lisbon's face when Lorelei read the suspect list.
In an episode,
Lisbon has a hammer in her desk and says to PJ that - you think you know everything about me but thats not true.
If PJ trusts and care about someone in the whole of the mentalist series, would that not be Lisbon?
if so, why RJ had not killed Lisbon yet if he wants to hurt PJ?He killed Lorelei who would alomst do anything for him just because she revealed an info to PJ.
But remember she also got close to PJ. They were lovers.
what if RJ killed Lorelei/took Kristiana not for the obvious reasons but just because they were getting close to PJ.
Remember PJ had a date with Kristiana. they could have made a relationship if there was not that RJ killing in that episode.
May be he is keeping PJ alive for Lisbon.
Conclusion:
If Lisbon is RJ's disciple how good that would be for RJ.
I think it would be perfect. RJ needs nothing more than this.
He can get all the info about Jane and his investigation.
And also he wants Lisbon to convince PJ to quit and get new life some day.
we have to split the whole mentalist series into two parts. upto season-3 and after season-3.
The facts/evidences after season-3 should be given more importance.
At the end of season-3, fake RJ is dead. May be this series was suppose to end by season-3.
And the fake RJ was supposed to be real RJ.
So we might have some contradicting events upto season-3 which does not support few theories.
This might be a stupid theory. but who knows if some of the things here were right? Just have to wait and see.Thanks for reading.
