Jane is Red John, he sleeps at the CBI, and naps regularly. Its a "Fight Club" scenario, he obviously doesn't know about this alter ego. While in his night time "trance" or whatever at the CBI, he goes through files and solves them by deduction. He stealthily travels to the area in question and either contacts the murderer and turns them into desciples. When loreili said Jane had "shaken hands" or whatever with Red John, she meant the preverbial handshake as Jane had recently been living a darker lifestyle, he was Red John more than Jane. Crimson Hat begins with Jane in vegas, he had been ripping people off for lots of money, and was obviously an alcoholic. Lorilie knew him as Red John as first, but quickly realized she liked him as a good person as well. Which would explain why Lorilie seems to be in love with Jane, and vice versa.
I also suspect certain people on the suspect list are actually deciples giving Bruno Hellar an opportunity to save face since Jane isnt technically on the list. Probably the director has figured it out, as he got REALLY good a playing cards, after the strawberries and cream episode. How could he have gotten SO good at cards after getting to know "Jane" better? The director figured it out and knows only to talk to Jane/RedJohn at night whilst "jane" is in his trance and RedJohn/Jane tought him how to cheat. I suspect Christina Frye has also figured this out. It would explain why she would only talk to Jane as a "spirit" after Jane and lisbon find her. AND why she was left "alive" with no signs of torture.
The reason Red John asked for lisbons head in a box, its because he knows Jane wouldnt do it. If Red John is aware that without Janes team there would be no more fun and games, it would make sense that none of them have been killed, or even threatened. Speaking of team members, I think the FBI woman suspects this, her capability to read people and her instinct are rivaled only by Jane.
This would explain PERFECTLY the way Brett Styles' behaviour and respect of Jane. AND why he was in a postion to give Jane the address of Christina Frye, without fear of repercussions. It also explains why the writers couldnt elaborate on Bretts connection to RJ further.
Please tell me what you think guys! Im a huge fan and dont get to watch as much as I'd like. This is the best show on TV for a looong time and no matter who RJ turns out to be, i have a feeling I wont be let down.
