Please keep in mind Red John is the type of guy women fall for. That means good looks and good social skills. Kirkland lacks basic social skills, he wasn't able to carry a simple conversation with Lisbon. Bertram doesn't have the looks. Smith looks like a cute teddy bear, but not a charming man. I bet he's enjoying being a Red John suspect! Stiles has the skills, but he's just not the Red John type. Haffner and McAllister both make a great Red John.
