The main difficulty with froming a theory about who Red John is, is that there is very little we know for sure. For instance, we do not know for sure that Partridge is dead, we do not know for sure that the list of suspects is real, etc. We also do not know who has been manipulated by Red John to tamper with evidence. This is particularly relevant the the murdered psychiatrist. It seems unlikely that Red John did not know of the recording, leaving us with questions once again.
One interesting thought that occurred to me is that several of the Red John suspects are relatively famous people. Thus it seems unlikely that the psychiatrist would not recognize them upon meeting. So we are left with to alternatives: Red John's face is not well known to public, or the psychiatrist has been working for Red John. Red John has had his subjects killed before, usually right before they could give Jane some important clue. If this is true then there would have to have been more contact between Red John and the psychiatrist than just one meeting, in order to establish such a strong connection. This might very well be a clue addressed in future episodes.
If she is not working for Red John, however, there are some suspects that she should have recognized from local news: Bertram and Stiles. This does not mean we can completely rule these suspects out, but they can be seperated from the others if we make a very big assumption.
