Why I think Red John is Ron from CBI.

http://thementalist.wikia.com/wiki/Red_John here it says that Red John is portrayed by John Troy Donovan. He is the actor that plays Ron from CBI. Could this be so easy?
PS I don't recall him shaking hands with Jane, I will try to find the scene if it exists.
