i think Karmen lee is the key to know every thing. i guess it's the code that Jane reminds Dr miller. in fact red john wants that Jane follow this lead. so i think what ever we now about Roth and the tape is not the real clue. i know at the end, we reach mcalister who has phobia about birds which makes him the best suspect. but it is what rj wants to be. maybe something about whistler was right about Red john. 

and i think the tiger tiger is the password for organization which rj is not member. maybe they are hostiles for red john. actually it makes sense for me.. because it has no meaning that Rj kills his teammates.
