The names on that list are Brett Partridge, Ellis Mars, Dean Harken, Jason Cooper, Walter Mashburn, Vint Molinari, Dr. Linus Wagner, Virgil Minelli, Dr. Towlen Morning and Osvaldo "Oscar" Ardiles.
Now, I won't go for the already popular ones like Partridge, Mashburn and Minelli.Out of all the names on that list, there was one that intrigued me the most, one that would be the most unexpected.It's also the one that was the least involved in the series.I am talking about Dr. Towlen Morning.So, why is the name of a dead doctor, a Red John victim appear as a suspect in Patrick Jane's list?What do we know of him?Red John killed 8 women before killing Jane's wife and daughter.The third and fourth victims were Janet Peak and her husband Carter Peak, respectively.Their family doctor was Dr. Towlen Morning.Only the body of Janet was found while her husband was missing and became known as the "Red John's missing victim".In the beginning of the episode "His Right Red Hand" starts with the team founding a naked body in a cemetery, shot in the head and been put in a sitting position under a statue.That body was later identified as "Dr. Towlen Morning".Meanwhile Rebecca killed Bosco's team and shot Bosco who will later succumb to his wounds.Why?Because Bosco was closing in on the Red John case.Red John killed women, he only meant to kill Janet Peak, but her husband(Carter Peak) unexpectedly came back and struggled with Red John resulting in his death.But, as Jane pointed out, that was a mistake, a miscalculation of RJ, his only one.And that's why RJ had to take Carter Peak's body with him.But the body was found 9 years later(the second season time period) and Bosco was going to investigate the body for DNA and all that and he planned on letting Jane on it too.Red John killed Hicks(one of Bosco's men) and let his body inside Dr. Towlen Morning office and had Rebecca take the body of Carter Peak(posing as Agent Rojo=Red in spanish) the day before Rebecca shot and killed Bosco and his team.The next day the events unfold as this:In the morning the body of Dr. Towlen Morning was found, then Rebecca attacked Bosco and his team, then the identity of the body at the cemetery was revealed as "Dr. Towlen Morning", then Jane puts two and two together and goes to Morning office and finds Hicks body lying in there with the RJ smiley trademark made on the wall.After that they discovered Bosco's breaktrough in Red John's case(the discovery of Carter Peak's body) and went to investigate his body, but found out the body was taken by "Agent Rojo" who was revealed as Rebecca   who was later arrested, interogated by Jane and poisoned at the end of the episode.
Now, my theory goes like this: Dr. Towlen Morning is Red John.He made a mistake 9 years ago when he had to kill both Janet Peak and her husband, Carter Peak.Because he killed him in the resulting struggle, he had to take the body and hide it somewhere.Nine years later he learns about Bosco's breakthrough, that someone found the body of Carter Peak buried somewhere.He hatched a last minute plan where he had Rebecca posing as Agent Rojo retrieving the body of Carter Peak with all the evidence found on it and while he killed Agent Hicks from Bosco's team and then put his body in his own office drawing the smiley face on the wall.Then Rebecca took Carter Peak's body at the cemetery where she let him naked and with a crown of yellow roses around his genital area, then she came to work where she attacked Bosco and his team.In the beginning of the episode, the female forensic agent says his liver has a smaller temperature compared to the one that was in the cemetery, meaning that he was kept at cold temperatures somewhere.Do you see the connection?The day before, Carter Peak's body is found, they took his body to the morgue which is later retrieved by Rebecca, the next morning a naked body is found in a cemetery with a smaller temperature than the one outside.The body in the cemetery is later identified as "Dr. Towlen Morning", but if Red John is Dr. Towlen Morning, he would have the resources and the power to influence the identification process of the body.Therefore, the body in the cemetery is actually Carter Peak, Red John is Dr. Towlen Morning who is now officially dead and everything falls perfect in Red John's plan.Who suspects a dead man?
I came with this when I saw the name of Dr. Towlen Morning in Patrick Jane's list of suspects.Under his name is written "Family Doctor, Deceased?, Early RJ victims".The fact that he is on Jane's list means Jane recalls shaking hands with him and also that Jane takes in consideration the possibility of him staging his "death" fooling everyone.
