THE THEORIES

Okay. We all know the poem that Red John recites to Patrick in the Finale of season 2. It's a part from the poem "The Tyger" by William Blake. I was just re-watching Episode 16 of season 3. And Gale makes a reference that goes as, "When thy little heart doth wake, Then the dreadful night shall break.", which is a part of the poem "Cradle Song" also by William Blake. He also says that he likes the poem. So maybe the appreciation that Red John and Gale Bertram share for William Blake is an indication as to who he really is?

I was watching the season 4 finale the other day and something else that points to bertram came to me...We never recieved any kind of closure on how wainright was obducted by red john/ his accomplices....I believe this is done intentionally....ASK YOURSELF THIS.....Of the 7 suspects....which one of them could possibly isolate wainwright from the cbi and pull him out into a limousine?  stiles? no way, Partirdge? are u kidding, Hafner? maybe but probably not, Reede Smith? na, Mcallister? not even a chance, and Kirkland wasnt even around at that point....SO that leaves Bertram......The chi director is probably the only person AT ALL let alone on the list of suspects.... that could have gotten wainright out of the cbi and into his own complany and then tied up and eventually shot....

Its a perfect plan to abduct luther for a couple reasons....

A) hes not going to be able to talk to jane with his mouth ductapted

B) The CBI/FBI will shoot thru the window if RJ and company lose the shootout.....killing wainright instantly

I never really understood why they didnt investigate wainrights abduction more, but now it is all starting to make sense!!!

In s5e6, when the guy who transported lorelei to the state prison was speaking with Patrick, the camera shows to the left a bit and I'm almost certain the guy in the photo with the officer is Bertram.

I could be wrong, but I like the idea Bertram could be RJ

First off, there is absolutely no possible, plausible scenario in which Patrick Jane is Red John,,,The show would have absolutely no purpose meaning and also no more viewers if this were true.  Anyone who feels differently should immediatley check into a mental institution themselves because you are a moron or crazy....]

NOW,  Many people including myself previously have chosen Brett Partridge as the candidate for RJ..due to his physical characteristics, occupation and overal demeanor and attitude towards Jane..
The more i think about this the more wrong i realize it is.
A) This is way to obvious of a choice, and we all know how Heller is when it comes to obvious suspects.
B) HIs occupation is actually more of a reason why he ISNT red john, there is no way a forensic tech could have a network of powerful friends and avoid co workers and bosses suspicions of being a serial killer
C) He buts heads with Jane costantly at crime scenes, the real Red John never would show his resentment for Jane in his real identity

With Partridge out the only suspect I could really put together as Red John is GALE BERTRAM

A) Season 3 finale strawberrys n Cream dropped plenty of subtle hints towards this, the phone call right after jane left his office with news of high towers location (probalbly a call to olaughlin or the assassin)
Also, he just happens to leave the mall as TImothy Carter shows up

B) The way he meets with Kirkland and Lisbon in his office in season 5 and says WE CANT TRUST ANYONE, this is basically a dead giveway that he is atleast involved with Red John

C) The way Jane says he got a bad vibe from him in the Season 3 opener

There are plenty of other clues and hints throughout seasons 3-5 and im sure there will be more in 6...I could be wrong but im about 85% sure im right on this one,, as long as people stop accusing Jane of being Red John I WILL BE HAPPY!!!

There's something quite interesting I found when searching about Mentalist skills online. One thing I found is that Bertram R Forer was a scientist that experimented The Barnum Effect for the first time, which is related to cold reading ( the ability to gain information about someone without that person realizing that they are actually giving up the information themselves) which is what Jane often does and a skill that Red John must be very good at.
Coincidence? I think not. It may not mean that Bertram is Red John but it definitely means that Bruno Heller (or the one who came up with Gale Bertram's character) must have known about this and is trying to lead us to some thoughts.

My thoughts are that Red John is not one individual but possibly a couple high powered ppl, eg Gale Bertram and Bob Kirkland, or even the whole Poker playing Club , excluding Teressa?? And that is why there is never a trace of RJ because it is not one person, it could have started off as one person( started on the Farm in the Barn) , but RJ is now more of a collective than an individual. Defintily Bob Kirkland has something to do with RJ

I think it's Bertram. He is very closely involved with Kirkland, who destroyed evidence of Red John when he killed Lennon. Also when Kirkland broke into Jane's room. That's how he got the 7 names and gave them to Bertram.

I used to think it could be Partridge, but it's a bit too obvious and I don't think Heller would want to seem like he's copying Dexter, who's also a serial killer working in forensics.
